A monument to Confederate soldiers on the St Landry Parish Courthouse continues to present a conundrum to the Parish Council.
An estimate of $23,000 to disassemble the 100-plus year-old monument on the northeast corner of the square was presented by Opelousas lawyer Thomas Dejean. DeJean is representing the Confederate heritage groups.
