Several contested races developed in the Eunice municipal elections as qualifying neared an end Friday.
As of Friday morning, there were races for alderman at-large, chief of police, and alderman in Wards 2, 3 and 4.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said he is retiring. He had announced he was running for a third term, but Friday morning confirmed he won’t run.
