Guest Speaker. Vince Fontenot, park ranger at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, was the guest speaker at East Elementary. He spoke to second graders on our culture and the national parks in the United States.
Mardi Gras Dance nears. Cindy Miller, left, and Linda Bellow, right, and their husbands Tanzy “Pete” Miller and Lawrence Bellow, not pictured, are ready for the St. Thomas More dance with costumes they developed themselves. Tickets for the dance, the ladies said, are $10 each and may be purchased at KJJB, KEUN, KBAZ, Potpourri, Savoy Music Center, Manshop by Myers and from the St. Thomas More Church office, at 457-8107.

Two-time All-District performer Troy Fruge returns for EHS in 1993.
Top Speech student. Gidget Thibodeaux, a sixth grader at Central Middle School, recently earned a lunch at McDonald’s with speech pathologist Shirley Klumpp. Central students in speech-language therapy earn points for their work, and accumulating 1,500 points entitles them to lunch at McDonald’s.
Food Bank seeking donations. The Eunice Food Bank accepts donations all year round to help needy families in the area. Pictured are members of the Knights of Columbus of St. Thomas More #10428, which made a donation to the food bank. EHS Student honored. Brandy Bergeron, daughter of John and Susan Bergeron of Eunice, was recognized Tuesday evening at the Chamber of Commerce Banquet as Eunice High Outstanding Student. The award was presented by Rep. Dale Sittig, right.
St. Ed Student honored. Sarah Fusilier, daughter of Kathy and Sammy Fusilier of Eunice, was recognized Tuesday evening at the Chamber of Commerce Banquet as the St. Edmund High Outstanding Student. The award was presented by Rep. Dale Sittig, right. Dr. Sue Forrest, seated, at left, served as master of ceremonies for the event.
LeJeune signs. Shane LeJeune, a senior at Eunice High School, recently signed with Louisiana Tech. LeJeune was recruited at Tech as an offensive lineman. Also pictured, standing from left, are Eunice head football coach Johnny Bourque and LeJeune’s parents Viv and Craig LeJeune.
