Jesse Guillory was named Eunice Volunteer Fireman of the Year. The award was presented by Mayor Kenneth Peart. The top volunteer firefighters were Guillory, Robert Johnson, Fire Chief Gerald LeJeune, Volunteer Fire Chief Terry Darbonne, Charles Miller, Gayner Martel, Kenneth Duplechin, Silton Johnson, John Brown and Brenden Leger.
Gary Courville was named vice president of the St. Landry Parish Police Jury.
Tina Savoy, a native of Eunice, was named Outstanding Student Teacher of the Year at McNeese State University. She was a graduate of St. Edmund High School. She was pictured with Freddie Alfred, Eunice Junior High School principal.
