VFW Post 8971 presents scholarships. Cesly West, a senior from Eunice High, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Eunice Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8971. From left are Louis Pavur, post adjutant; West, Post Commander Al Courville, and Post Quartermaster Hilton Lavergne.

Eunice takes second in tourney. The Eunice American 9 & 10 All-Star tem took second place this past weekend in the Frog City Tune Up Tournament in Rayne. Front from left are John Mayo III, Austin Phillips, Dustin LeBlanc, Mitchell Lege, Rafael Guillory, II and Luke Andrepont. Second row from left are Joshual Youngblood, Jay Robert Pitre, Tanner Cormier, Deonte’ Gallow, Bryce Vidrine, and Greg Langley II. The coaches are Kevin Cormier, Amber Vidrine and Tara Fruge LeBlanc.

Making science fun for campers. Julie Doucet prepares a volcano for Louisiana State University Eunice BENGAL campers in the Science is Fun class. The volcano, made from modeling clay fashioned by the campers, shows the chemical interaction between ingredients which produces a bubbling eruption. Campers from left are Jaedon Dupre, Kennedy Fruge, Wesley Lejeune, Payton Naquin, Ali Lantz and Avery Ortego.

Coloring Contest winner. Six year old William R. Martel was the winner of The Eunice News “School’s Out” Coloring Contest. William won $25 cash for his winning entry, shown here. With William is his cousin Sadie Martel, who won the coloring contest in 2009.
