St. Landry Parish schools to close Tuesday, Wednesday
Due to a forecast of winter precipitation, St. Landry Parish public schools are to close Tueday and Wednesday. The school closure includes school-related activities.

St. Landry Parish Government will be closed Tuesday due to the potential freeze.
Normal operations are to resume on Wednesday.
The parish government is opening a shelter
St. Landry Parish Government will be opening a warming shelter on Sunday through Thursday at the former Indian Hills Country Club., 1141 E. Prudhomme St., Opelousas.
The warming shelter will be open at 5 p.m. Sunday and will remain open until 9 a.m. Thursday. Meals will not be provided. Residents are urged to bring their own food, blankets, pillows and any other materials necessary while staying at the shelter.
Space will be limited.
Eunice city closures
Due to the latest weather forecast the City of Eunice's non-emergency departments
will be closed on Tuesday in anticipation of freezing conditions and possibly icy roads.
No decision has been made yet about Wednesday.
LSUE campus closed Tuesday, Wednesday
Due to expected severe winter weather forecasted for the south Louisiana region, the LSU Eunice campus will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. This closure also affects LSUE’s satellite campuses in Lafayette and Alexandria.
All in-person classes are canceled, while online classes should contact their professors for further instruction.
Students should be advised that because of the closure, all late registration, financial clearance, final date to add/change and 100% refund for dropping a course by 11:59PM deadlines will be delayed from Tuesday to Thursday.
Chartwell’s Food Services are making preparations for food delivery to serve the residents of Bengal Village. LSUE Housing will provide more information as we get closer to the winter weather conditions. Campus dining is expected to resume normal operating hours on Thursday.
Classes and normal business operations are currently scheduled to resume on Thursday. LSU Eunice officials will continue to monitor the forecasts and local conditions with any updates being announced through e-mail, social media, and www.lsue.edu.
27th Judicial District Court operations closed on Tuesday
Due to inclement weather and freezing temperatures, the 27th Judicial District Court will be closed on Tuesday for the safety of staff, jurors, and the public.Two juries were previously summoned to appear on Tuesday. Jurors will be contacted with further instructions regarding rescheduling.

St. Landry Parish sheriff criminal, ciivl offices closed Tuesday
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz has announced the closing of the offices of the criminal and civil divisions on Tuesday due to extreme weather and travel risks. The dispatch and patrol shifts will be on duty during this critical time. Sheriff Guidroz asks the public to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary and to use extreme caution. Please monitor the road advisories issued by the Louisiana State Police and the local agencies.
UL Lafayette transitioning to remote instruction and operations Jan. 21, 22
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will transition to remote instruction and operations on Tuesday and Wednesday in anticipation of the cold weather and precipitation expected early next week. University-sponsored events on these dates are postponed. Updates on Wednesday's Ragin' Cajuns basketball game are forthcoming.
The campus is set to resume in-person activity on Thursday. Facilities Management and University administration will inspect campus to assess water and heating systems as well as pathways and roads.
The University will continue to monitor weather and road conditions. A follow-up message will be sent next Wednesday.
Residents will receive an additional email with information about dining and other campus services.
Employees should prepare for remote work by bringing home necessary equipment. University phones must still be answered during this period..
The drop and add period will be extended to Friday.
Students who are unable to participate in classes remotely should contact their professors. If a student needs further assistance, they can contact the Office of the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@louisiana.edu.
Faculty and staff members who are unable to work remotely should contact their immediate supervisors.
