Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue reported the arrest of Evangeline Parish Police Juror Bryan K. Vidrine after he allegedly shot toward a vehicle of possible burglars.
In a news release the chief, it stated at 5:45 a.m. Nov. 16 Ville Platte Police responded to a report of trespassing and possible attempted burglary on Scenic Drive.
It was reported that a male subject approached two vehicles parked in a driveway, and then fled the scene in a white car occupied by other male suspects.
As the vehicle drove off from the Scenic Drive residence, Vidrine, the homeowner, fired a shotgun towards the fleeing vehicle and followed the vehicle for a short time, until he lost sight of the vehicle, the news release stated.
Vidrine was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrument.”
After being booked, Vidrine was transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $7,500 bond.
