Police Officer Darrain Guillory was dispatached Thursday evening to Acadian Medical Center to speak to a stabbing victim.
Upon arrival, the victim advised that she and her boyfriend Teddy Coleman got into a verbal dispute and during an altercation Coleman went into the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife and proceeded to slit the victim’s left forearm.
The victim stated that Coleman then followed her with a knife in hand as she ran outside. The victim wrote a statement about the incident that occurred in their residence at 1600 block of W. Vine.
Officers left the medical center, and arrived at the residence and attempted to contact Coleman.
Officers on the scene knocked on the front and back doors of the residence with no reply from Coleman or any other party that may have been in the home. Loud music could be heard coming from inside the residence and all lights in the home were turned on and seen through the windows.
Several tactics were used to assure that if Coleman was in the residence, that he would exit the home. The tactics used also failed.
Officers began looking under the residence and located Coleman lying on his stomach face down. At this time officers began giving verbal commands and advised him to come out and meet them.
Coleman did comply with officer’s verbal commands. Officers then advised Coleman of his Miranda rights and placed him in hand restraints.
Coleman was arrested for domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer, and aggravated second degree battery.
