Bulb Blossom meeting set Monday

Tickets on sale for Eunice Players’ Theatre comedy
Tickets are on sale for “A Comedy of Tenors,” the first show of the 49th season for Eunice Players’ Theatre.
Directed by Jody L. Powell, the non-musical play written by Ken Ludwig features four tenors, three girlfriends, two wives, and one very stressed out opera producer who create runaway chaos, mistaken identities, and madcap delight.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Revente (120 S. 2nd St.) or at David’s Limited (204 S. 2nd St. in Eunice) or by calling 337-457-8360 or 337-546-0163 to charge by phone. Visa and MasterCard are accepted for advance sales but not at the door.
Season ticket holders can make reservations by calling the number on their season ticket. Evening performances will be held March 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 24 at 7 p.m. Dinner Theatre (with steak and trimmings for an additional $20) is scheduled for March 15 at 6 p.m. at Ruby’s on 2nd Street, with the performance immediately following. A matinee performance will be held March 18 at 2 p.m. Season tickets ($30 each) are still available for purchase. The theatre is located at 121 S. 2nd St. in Eunice.
Women’s Conference set March 16
There will be a Women’s Conference, “Are You Ready for The Wedding?” Matthew 25:1-13 themed at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16 at the Greater Outreach Ministries located at 411 E. Maple Avenue.

Lenten fish dinners at Bishop Center
St. Mathilda Catholic Church members will continue to sell Fried fish and fish courtbouillon dinners through Lenten season every Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a pick up at the Bishop Ceaser Center.

There will be a revival with the Rev. Oren Conner, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, will be held at 6 p.m. March 11-13 at First Baptist Church in Chataignier.

Revival set for March 20-24
God’s Gift to Ministry sets a Revival at 7 p.m. March 20-24 at the VFW Hall located at 402 Bobcat Drive, across from Eunice High School.
Revival times are set for 7 p.m. each evening, and at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.

Sheriffs’ scholarship deadline nears
Sheriffs in St. Landry and Acadia parishes announced they will award $500 scholarships through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program.
The scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior in each parish.
Applications area available at parish high schools.
There are no restrictions on the purposes for which scholarship funds may be spent except that they must be utilized in pursuit of a higher education within the state of Louisiana. The recipient of the scholarship must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college or university within the state of louisiana. The scholarship is not a loan and is awarded as a gift to defray expenses associated with tuition and related expenses.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Louisiana and their parish.
Application packets may be picked up at participating high schools in st. Landry and Acadia parishes.
Completed applications must be received by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than April 1.

Winners will be determined by an independent selection committee and announced by May 1..
In Acadia Parish, completed applications must be submitted to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office on or before April 1. Easter Fun Day at University Baptist
There will be an Easter Fun Day from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at the University Baptist Church, located at 1094 LSUE Drive, in Eunice.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, Easter baskets awarded for whoever finds the most eggs, hot dogs, soft drinks, chips, popcorn, cotton candy and much more.

Easter Sunrise Service at University
There will be a Sunrise Easter Service at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 1 at University Baptist Church.
Following the service there will be a light breakfast served at 7:30 a.m. and a morning worship service beginning at 8:30 a.m.

St. Landry Lifetime Achievement banquet
The St. Landry Parish Democratic Executive Committee will hold its sixth annual St. Landry Lifetime Achievement banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Opelousas Civic Center
This year’s honorees are Cheryl Milburn, Patricia Hertzock, Patti Kempf, and Rhyn Duplechain.
Invited special guests will be Sen. Gerald Boudreaux and Rep.Dustin Miller.

Symphony Spring Concert set April 15
The Eunice Symphony Orchestra will present its Spring Concert themed, “Opening Night” at 6 p.m. April 15 at the Liberty Theater.
The spring concert “Opening Night”, promises to be entertaining its audience with different movie themed music. Some will include music from Mamma Mia, Forest Gump, Grease, and much more.

COA Medicare program is Thursday
A presentation of the Medicare program will be presented at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Northwest Center on Samuel Drive.

The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.

Concealed handgun classes offered
Non-profit classes for a concealed handgun permit are scheduled March 17, April 14, May 12, June 23, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 13, Nov. 10, and Dec. 8, at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice, according to an announcement from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The courses include all the requirements needed for application to the state for a carrying a concealed handgun, but does not include the state fee.
The course cost $100 and a spouse may attend for another $80.
Classes start at 7:30 a.m. and include classroom instruction, applications, notary, fingerprints, firing range, a hot lunch, refreshments all day, and a certificate of completion as required by the state.
The course is taught by certified police instructors.
Participants should bring a photo identification, cash or check, handgun and a box of ammunition.
