Help out the Eunice Food Bank. The food bank is in dire need of a van to transport/ pick up food items. This van be an older used make/model or preferably a donated vehicle.

True Vine BBQ fundraiser set Saturday
True Vine Church located at 412 Aymond St. will have a BBQ chicken or pork dinner sale from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
A donation of $8 will be accepted.

WC Read Fire Dept. BBQ fundraiser set
W.C. Read Fire Departments’ annual BBQ will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday.
The BBQ dinners will be sold for $8 each at the WC Read Station located at intersection of La. 13 and La 374. There will also be a bake sale.
One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit volunteer fire department.

Community choir, band summer season announced
The Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir will begin the 2018 summer season.
Choir rehearsals begin May 7 at the First Baptist Church, Eunice. Concert Band rehearsals begin on May 8 at the Liberty Center.
Concert dates are July 12 and 13, Liberty Center.

Rotary seeks administrative pro nominations
The Eunice Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2018 Eunice Administrative Professional of the Year.
The winner will receive a free trip to Branson, Missouri, courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.
Nomination letters should be mailed to the Pucheu Law Office at P.O. Box 1109, Eunice, LA 70535, Attn: Admin Asst Day.
The deadline for nominations is April 20.
The Rotary Club’s 31st Annual Luncheon will be held at noon April 25 at the St. Thomas More Church Hall.

Troy Ashford benefit set Saturday
There will be a medical expense benefit for Troy Ashford from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday at Basile Pig Barn located at 2000 Stagg Ave. in Basile.
Ashford, diagnosed with Amyloidosis and multiple Myeloma is receiving chemotherapy treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is no longer able to work.
There is a bank account set up at Basile State Bank, under the name of Troy Ashford Medical fund, for any monetary donations.
The upcoming benefit will be a family fun event with live music, live auction, washer board tournament, silent auction, face painting, raffle, jambalaya, hamburgers, drinks, fun jump and much more.

Library book sale
The Eunice Public Library will have a book sale beginning until April 21. All books are marked at 10¢.
All proceeds will benefit the Summer Reading Program to supply snacks, craft supplies, and door prizes for children.

MACA to hold open house
The Magnet Academy of Biomedical Sciences at Opelousas High School, 1201 Linwood Drive, will hold an open house and informational meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 23.

The LeDoux Library at LSUE campus is currently accepting book donations for a library book sale to be held in April.

LSUE LeDoux Library book sale
There will be a Used Book Sale from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on April 25 and April 26. On Friday, April 27 the sale will be from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

National Day of Prayer set May 3
Eunice will recognize National Day of Prayer with this year’s theme of “Pray for America-Unity” at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3 at Liberty Theater.

Come Lord Jesus Anniversary Mass set
Come Lord Jesus Anniversary Mass is set for 6 p.m. May 15, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Basile. A covered dish reception following at the Speyrer Hall.
The public is invited.

Kindergarten registration set
Kindergarten registration at Eunice schools are scheduled.
Glendale Elementary will have registration on April 23.
East Elementary registration is set for April 24.
Eunice Elementary is April 25 and Highland Elementary is set for April 26.
Parents are required to bring to registration: child’s birth certificate, child’s immunization record, and a current utility bill (water, gas, electricity) with a name and address.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.
For the month of March bands include:
April 21: No show.
April 28: The Camp Jammers.
The Liberty performance admission is $5 at the door.

Elementary Pre-k registration dates set
All Eunice elementary schools (East, Eunice, Glendale and Highland) are conducting pre-k registration. Visit your child’s zoned school to sign up for a testing date.
In order to be eligible for Pre-k, a child must be four (4) years old on or before Sept. 30.
The following documents will be required on your child’s testing day to register for Pre-k:
–Child’s birth certificate
–Child’s immunization record (current)
–Proof of residency (utility bill with parents name and address)
–Proof of income: Bring one of the following:
Two consecutive check stubs, SNAP verification letter.

Community Yard Sale set for May 5
There will be Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. May 5 at the North Eunice Baptist Church. The church is located at 2080 Veterans Memorial Highway.
The public is invited to se up a free booth space.

Concealed handgun classes offered
Non-profit classes for a concealed handgun permit are scheduled May 12, June 23, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 13, Nov. 10, and Dec. 8, at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice, according to an announcement from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The courses include all the requirements needed for application to the state for a carrying a concealed handgun, but does not include the state fee.
The course cost $100 and a spouse may attend for another $80.
Classes start at 7:30 a.m. and include classroom instruction, applications, notary, fingerprints, firing range, a hot lunch, refreshments all day, and a certificate of completion as required by the state.
The course is taught by certified police instructors.
Participants should bring a photo identification, cash or check, handgun and a box of ammunition.

IHS All Sports Backers fundraiser
The Iota High School All Sports Backers fundraiser, named “Prize-a-Palooza,” is underway.
Anyone who purchases a ticket has a chance to win one or more of 31 prizes.
Tickets are $50 each and only 1,000 will be sold.
Tickets can be purchase from any athlete at Iota High or at the IHS front office.
A drawing will be held every day, and coincide with the Pick Three numbers in July.
