Mardi Gras for children Saturday
The Junior Auxiliary of Eunice and the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center are planning a Mardi Gras event for children from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jean Lafitte Center, 250 Park Ave; Eunice.
Admission is free.
Activities include reading of a traditional Cajun Mardi Gras story; making an authentic Mardi Gras mask and capuchon; and decorating their own mini King Cake.
Children are welcome to wear Mardi Gras costumes.

LSUE OLLI upcoming events
On Friday, the LSUE OLLI group will Not have a French table at LSUE.
The group will resume resume the French table Friday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. in the Community Ed Building, Room 117.
The topics for discussion for February will be: *Comical characters, Feb 10; and *Clothes washing, Feb 17.
The events are free and encouraged to bring a friend.

ACT prep class
Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson will hold a free ACT Prep Class on Saturday for all interested high school students in Acadiana.
The class will be held at the Sheriff’s Office, 1037 Capitol Avenue, in Crowley. Classes will begin at 8 a.m. and end about 2 p.m.

Students are asked to bring paper, pencil and a calculator. Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided.

Free child car
seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laure Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Cooks needed for Tasters Choice
Cooks are needed for the Eunice Community Health Center’s seventh annual Tasters Choice scheduled Feb. 22.
The event is a fundraiser for the Eunice Community Health Center, which provides free health care to people who work, but are unable to pay for their care.

Bulb & Blossom social set Feb. 13
The Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club will have a membership social open house on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at the social hall at First United Methodist Church, 501 S. 5th St., in Eunice.
All, men and women, that are interested in becoming a volunteer are encouraged to attend. All other civic clubs and organizations are also invited.

Parade of Paws set for Feb. 25
There will be a Parade of Paws on Saturday, Feb. 26 beginning at 3 p.m. on S. Second St. nearby Four Southern Girls store.
The Mardi Gras dog parade is for all canines and their owners. Required Mardi Gras costumes for canines are asked, with owners having the option to dress in Mardi Gras attire.

Mardi Gras ball at Church Point
The Church Point Community Development Corporation plans its first-ever Church Point Mardi Gras Ball at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Church Point Community Center.
The corporation is a nonprofit organization that develops community projects based on a foundation of sharing, maintained through participation and enjoyed fellowship.
The corporation is focusing their efforts on initiating downtown revitalization projects, hosting functions and events to celebrate the uniqueness and rich culture of Church Point, creating public and private partnerships to facilitate improvements, increasing opportunities for youth development and community engagement, and helping to promote and enhance Le Parc Du Vieux Depot and Le Vieux Presbytere Museum.

Moody College of Business
launches ‘Business and Breakfast’
The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has launched a “Business & Breakfast” program, which offers businesses the opportunity to recruit and interact directly with business students at the College.
The program, in turn, enables students to network with – and learn more about – the visiting company.
As the exclusive host for the morning, the visiting company provides breakfast for the students, while the College provides setup and all promotions. For businesses seeking to meet with specific types of students, targeted partnerships with student organizations and majors are available.

ABC Men’s Retreat set for Feb. 24-25
The Acadian Baptist Center near Richard will host a Men’s Retreat on Feb. 24-25.
The speaker will be Dr. Gevan Spinney. Dr. Spinney is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Haughton, and is currently serving as the president of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
Music will be provided by Chad Boudreaux of First Baptist Church of Crowley.
Cost for this event is $55, including meals and lodging; $35 for commuters, including meals.

Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.
