DSAA Buddy Walk set for Oct. 27
The Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana will have its 14th annual Buddy Walk on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Parc International, 200 Garfield Street, downtown Lafayette.
Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Cost is $15 per person.

Satelitte Club sponsors political forum

La. Baptist Women Concert set Oct. 11
Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Richard will host the Louisiana Baptist Singing Women in Concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The concert is free and an offering will be taken with 100 percent going toward the Teresa Thomason Scholarship Fund which is awarded each year to a high school student on the merit of musical performance.
Pastor Orville Rogers and the church family of Pilgrim Rest cordially invites the public to join them for praise and worship experience.
Pilgrim Rest is located in the Richard Community right next to Acadian Baptist Center.

CDA Court 208 to hold Prayer Rally
Court Eunice 208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have its annual Public Prayer Rally for our country.
America needs Fatima prayer rally will take place on Oct. 13 in front of the rectory at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and also at 3Advanced Cast Weld, 1850 W. Laurel Ave. in Eunice.
The event will be held regardless of weather. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A rosary will begin at noon, on this day, in every United States time zone, to honor Our Blessed Mother and ask for her protection and intercessory prayers for America.
Those attending should wear their CDA, LAS badges or shirts of recognition (ex. LSUE Catholic, KC’s, Knights of Peter Clavier, etc), as photos will be taken.

Trick or Treat downtown set Oct. 31
The sixth annual Trick or Treat will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.,Oct. 31 beginning at corner of Laurel Avenue and South 2nd Street.
There will be booths along the way with goodies and activities for children. Children, age 12 & under, must wear costumes, and must be accompanied by an adult.
Every business is welcomed to participate and can do so by registering at Patrick’s Full Service Salon at 130 Ws Walnut.

LSUE Performing Arts event set Oct. 25
There will be a free Performing Arts, BlackSmith, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the LSUE auditorium of the Health Tech Building.
Blacksmith is a spoken word collective from Lafayette, Louisiana. The collective prides itself on being as authentic in their art as possible. This powerful trio presents the art form of spoken word through creative writing/speaking through the venue of Hip Hop to students and adults in local communities.

EHS Bobcat Auction set Oct. 16
The annual Eunice High School Bobcat Auction, sponsored by the EHS Booster Club. will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 16, at the Northwest Community Center.
It will be broadcast on 105-5 KEUN, streaming on ustream.com (search for “KEUN RADIO”), and audio will be live on Charter Cable channel 198. Items may be viewed on Facebook (EHS Booster Club Auction 2018).
Gumbo will be served for a small fee. A cash bar will be available.
There will be a silent auction going on at Northwest Community Center during the live auction with many other great items to view and bid on.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Concealed handgun classes offered
Non-profit classes for a concealed handgun permit are scheduled Oct. 13, Nov. 10, and Dec. 8, at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice, according to an announcement from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The courses include all the requirements needed for application to the state for a carrying a concealed handgun, but does not include the state fee.
The course cost $100 and a spouse may attend for another $80.
Classes start at 7:30 a.m. and include classroom instruction, applications, notary, fingerprints, firing range, a hot lunch, refreshments all day, and a certificate of completion as required by the state.
The course is taught by certified police instructors.
Participants should bring a photo identification, cash or check, handgun and a box of ammunition.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
