Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser connected to the city’s 125th anniversary.
Anyone wishing to purchase these books, can call 457-7389 or 305-3672.

Giving Tree helps those with cancer
Miles Perret Cancer Services is asking for support to give hope this holiday season to families fighting, surviving, and living with cancer through the annual Christmas Giving Tree Program.
The program is offered to pediatric clients or children and/or siblings of an active MPCS client who are 18 years old or younger and living at home. Each ornament on the Giving Tree has a child’s wish, age, and gender (all wishes or gifts are within a $35 limit). Businesses, groups, and individuals can participate by choosing ornaments, shopping for gifts, and returning unwrapped gifts to the Miles Perret office. The MPCS elves will then wrap all gifts in time for Christmas.
To help, stop by the MPCS office at 2130 Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette; or contact the office at 337-984-1920. Each gift item should be returned unwrapped to the MPCS office by Dec. 7.

ECCBC Christmas Concert set Dec. 13, 14
The Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir, Inc. will presents its Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. both evenings on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14. There will also be an art exhibit by the FACE (Fine Arts Council of Eunice).
Musical selections will include: Baby Born a King, Can You Hear the Angels?, Go Light Your World, Jing-a-Ling, Jing-a-Ling, Lullay/Infant Lowly, Rejoice With Exceeding Joy, Zat you Santa Claus, Celtic Carol, Fantasia for Christmas, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, The Toymaker’s Worshop, The Toy Trumpet, Up On a Housetop and We Wish You a Mambo Christmas.
Tickets are $5 adults, children under 12 are $12.

Players’ Theatre board meeting Dec. 11
The Eunice Players’ Theatre will hold its general board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11. The meeting will be held at the theatre at 121 South 2nd Street.
All season ticket holders are invited and encouraged to attend.
During this meeting there will be nominations made and voting for 2019 board members, and also a discussion of upcoming 50th season and the Irving Awards ceremony that will be held on Jan. 26, 2019.

Library book sale
The Eunice Public Library will have a Book Sale beginning Dec. 10 until Dec. 22. All books are 10 cents each will supplies last.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Christmas craft at library Dec. 22
The Eunice Public Library will host Christmas crafting event from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Dec. 22.
Kids will have the opportunity to create Mickey Minnie ornaments.

Food drive at Super 1
TYLER, Texas, Oct. 31 – Brookshire Grocery Co.’s 37th annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive/along with Eunice Rotary Club begins today with the goal to help thousands of people in need within the close to 150 communities served by BGC stores.
Through Dec. 20, all Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market and FRESH by Brookshire’s stores will collect donations of non-perishable food items to be donated to local service organizations and food pantries for distribution.
*Reminder also that all Eunice elementary schools will be participating with food drive. The Eunice Rotary Club will be picking up all school’s donation on Dec. 4.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.
Those interested, and one does Not have to be a veteran, are asked to call Miguel Pousson at 337-396-6392 for more information and details.

Concealed handgun classes offered
Non-profit classes for a concealed handgun permit is scheduled Dec. 8 at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice, according to an announcement from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The courses include all the requirements needed for application to the state for a carrying a concealed handgun, but does not include the state fee.
The course cost $100 and a spouse may attend for another $80.
Classes start at 7:30 a.m. and include classroom instruction, applications, notary, fingerprints, firing range, a hot lunch, refreshments all day, and a certificate of completion as required by the state.
The course is taught by certified police instructors.
Participants should bring a photo identification, cash or check, handgun and a box of ammunition.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
