Players’ auditions set this week
The Eunice Players’ Theatre is seeking three men and five women for its upcoming spring performance of “Play On,” by Rick Abbott.
Audition dates are Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Eunice Players’ Theatre at 121 2nd St., Eunice.
No experience is required to audition for this comedy under the direction of Jimmy Broussard and Annette Harrington.

Town hall
meeting on energy
The Alliance for Affordable Energy has scheduled a town hall meeting in Lafayette to educate the public on statewide energy issues such as: changes in solar energy laws; Louisiana Public Service Commission’s recent activity and how it effects other agenda items; and energy efficiency programs.

Eunice Players’ season tickets now available
The Eunice Players’ Theatre is now selling season tickets for the 2017 season.
A season ticket is $30 and allows the holder to see all three shows for the price of two. Season ticket holders are also given the privilege of making a reservation for a seat for a given night and given voting privileges for the Irving Awards as well as a ticket to attend the awards event.
Patrons may have one’s name or business name on the back of the show programs and will receive four tickets for $100. An Angel will receive 6 tickets for $150 and will also have his or her name or business name on the back of every program.
Season tickets are available from any board member or at David’s Hair Ltd. on Second Street in Eunice.

Annual COA Mardi Gras Dance set Feb. 27
The St. Landry Council on Aging will have its annual Mardi Gras celebration Mondy, Feb. 27 at the Northwest Community Center from 1- to 3 p.m. with live music from Big J. and the Zydeco Dog Pound.
Admission fee is $2 per person over 60. Anyone under 60 is required to pay $6.
There will be contest with judges on hand for The Best Dancing Male and Female, the Most Traditional Costume, and King and Queen.
Gumbo will be sold at $5 per bowl and refreshments will be served.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laure Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Cooks needed for Tasters Choice
Cooks are needed for the Eunice Community Health Center’s seventh annual Tasters Choice scheduled Feb. 22.
The event is a fundraiser for the Eunice Community Health Center, which provides free health care to people who work, but are unable to pay for their care.

Bulb & Blossom social set today
The Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club will have a membership social open house at 6 p.m. Monday at the social hall at First United Methodist Church, 501 S. 5th St., in Eunice.

Parade of Paws set for Feb. 25
There will be a Parade of Paws at 3 p.m. Feb. 25 on South 2nd Street nearby Four Southern Girls store.
The Mardi Gras dog parade is for all canines and their owners. Required Mardi Gras costumes for canines are asked, with owners having the option to dress in Mardi Gras attire.

Lenten Day of
Reflection set March 4
There will be a Lenten Day of Reflection retreat at the St. Pius Elementary School in the Msgr. Richard Mouton auditorium in Lafayette on March 4 from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Speakers will be Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel, Drs. Sarah Brabant, and Pat Low.
Cost is $25 in advance or $30 at the door, with a light breakfast and lunch provided.

Mardi Gras Masks Murder Mystery set March 11
On March 4 a Governor’s Mardi Gras Ball in Louisiana turns into a a mystery as Opelousas Little Theatre presents “Mardi Gras Masks Murder Mystery Dinner” at the Delta Grand Theatre located at 120 South Market Street in downtown Opelousas.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and theatre beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 at can be purchased at Sebastian Dupre’ Fine Jewelry in Opelousas, (337-948-4367) and can also be charged and waiting for you at the doors.
Seating is limited. Tickets purchased at the door will be $35 each.

The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has launched a “Business & Breakfast” program, which offers businesses the opportunity to recruit and interact directly with business students at the College.
The program, in turn, enables students to network with – and learn more about – the visiting company.
As the exclusive host for the morning, the visiting company provides breakfast for the students, while the College provides setup and all promotions. For businesses seeking to meet with specific types of students, targeted partnerships with student organizations and majors are available.

ABC Men’s Retreat set for Feb. 24-25
The Acadian Baptist Center near Richard will host a Men’s Retreat on Feb. 24-25.
The speaker will be Dr. Gevan Spinney. Dr. Spinney is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Haughton, and isserving as the president of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
Music will be provided by Chad Boudreaux of First Baptist Church of Crowley.

KPC Ladies Aux. Fish fry set March 1
The KPC Ladies Auxiliary Court 92 of St. Mathilda Catholic Church will have its Fish Fry sale on March 1 at Bishop Ceaser Center.

Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
