March for Life walk set Tuesday at noon
The annual March for Life walk will be held at noon Tuesday.
The public is invited. Marchers for life will meet at North 2nd Street nearby Picous’ and walk to City Hall parking lot area for a time of prayer and reflection.

Eunice Rotary Club seeks top citizen nominees
The Eunice Rotary Club is accepting nominations for the 2018 Citizen of the Year Award.
The purpose of the award is to recognize the Eunice citizen who has shown extraordinary community spirit and given outstanding service to the community during 2018, although service for other years may be considered.
Nominations must be in writing and must be received on or before 11 a.m. Jan. 23. Nominations should be mailed to John Pucheu, Citizen of the Year Committee, P.O. Box 1109, Eunice, LA 70535.

Coushatta Casino entertainment set
The entertainment scheduled for Coushatta Casino Resort’s Mikko Live includes the following:

Winter Musical at St. Luke set Jan. 26
The St. Luke Inspirational Chorus of Vidrine will have a Winter Musical beginning at 6 p.m. Jan. 26. A service will begin at 6 p.m. along with male chorus, groups, choirs, soloist, and praise team from Alexandria, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Westlake, Crowley, Elton, Eunice, Opelousas, Mamou and Ville Platte performing.

St. Anthony Church speaker on Jan. 28
Justin Fatica, an inspirtational and motivational speaker, will present ‘You’re Amazing...The Journey to Joy’ from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice.
The event is a community event for families and open to all ages.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

The Liberty performance admission is $5 at the door.

Eunice Area Men’s Retreat set Jan. 31
The Eunice Area Men’s Retreat will be held at Our Lady of Oaks Retreat House in Grand Coteau from Jan. 31 to noon Feb. 3.

The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser connected to the city’s 125th anniversary.

Eunice Rec hosting skills challenge
The Eunice Recreation Department is the host site for 2018-2019 Junior NBA Skills Challenge presented by Under Armour.
The Challenge to be hosted in Eunice will be at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9, at the Eunice High School Gym. Challenge participation is free.
In addition to the 13U and 11U Jr. NBA Skills Challenge that offers winning participants a chance to move on to regional competition and possibly the national competition, The Eunice Rec will offer an 8U division (Eunice Rec 8U Basketball Skills Challenge) where all other participants under the age of 8 may participate in a local skills challenge. This 8U division will have modified rules from the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge. There is no advancement for the 8U division beyond the Eunice Rec host site.
Any participant who qualifies by age, may participate in this event. Registration for the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge and the Eunice Rec 8U Basketball Skills Challenge will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 26. Participants do not have to be a member of a 2019 Eunice Rec basketball team. A photocopy of the participants birth certificate is required at the time of registration. All participants must register on this date. Pre-registration is required so that game schedules maybe altered for the actual event date.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Farmers’ Market open Saturdays
The Eunice Farmers’ Market is meeting on South 2nd Street from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
