Bulb & Blossom membership tea set
New members wanted at the Bulb & Blossom annual membership tea to be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at the residence of Connie Thibodeaux.
All members are asked to bring a potential new member and membership is welcomed to anyone interested.
The Garden Club is involved in beautification and litter abatement within the city. Refreshments will be served.

COA annual Mardi Gras dance set
The St. Landry Council on Aging, Inc. will have its annual Mardi Gras dance from 1 to 3:30 p.m. March 4 at the Northwest Center in Eunice.
Music will be provided by Big J & the Zydeco Dog Pound,
Admission is $2 for age 60 and over. Anyone under 60 admission is $5.
There will be judging for Mardi Gras King & queen, the most traditional costume and the best male and female dancer.

Black History program at GGLBC
The Greater Golden Light Baptist Church will host a Black History program at 9 a.m. Feb. 9. Elected officials will be honored during the program. Pastor of the church is Rev. Gregory Fontenot.

Women With Heart Luncheon set
OPELOUSAS — The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way’s Women United Women With Heart Luncheon and Awards event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Opelousas Civic Center. Tickets at $25.
Two women leaders in St. Landry and Evangeline parishes who have distinguished themselves as caring, compassionate philanthropists and community volunteers will be recognized.
A “Power of the Purse” purse auction will also be a highlight of the event.
Proceeds from the event will support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL).

CDA 208 monthly meeting set Feb. 4
Court Eunice 208 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Monday Feb. 4, at the Jeanmard Hall.
All members and potential members (Sacrament receiving Catholic females who are 18 years of age and older) are invited to attend.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Feb. 16: Wallace Trahan & Rice N Gravy.
Feb. 23: Kenneth Benoit & The Gravel Road Band.

The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser connected to the city’s 125th anniversary.

Eunice Rec hosting skills challenge
The Eunice Recreation Department is the host site for 2018-2019 Junior NBA Skills Challenge presented by Under Armour.
The Challenge to be hosted in Eunice will be at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9, at the Eunice High School Gym. Challenge participation is free.
In addition to the 13U and 11U Jr. NBA Skills Challenge that offers winning participants a chance to move on to regional competition and possibly the national competition, The Eunice Rec will offer an 8U division (Eunice Rec 8U Basketball Skills Challenge) where all other participants under the age of 8 may participate in a local skills challenge. This 8U division will have modified rules from the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge. There is no advancement for the 8U division beyond the Eunice Rec host site.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Farmers’ Market open Saturdays

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
