COA annual Mardi Gras dance set
The St. Landry Council on Aging, Inc. will have its annual Mardi Gras dance from 1 to 3:30 p.m. March 4 at the Northwest Center in Eunice.
Music will be provided by Big J & the Zydeco Dog Pound,
Admission is $2 for age 60 and over. Anyone under 60 admission is $5.
There will be judging for Mardi Gras King & queen, the most traditional costume and the best male and female dancer.

Women With Heart Luncheon set
OPELOUSAS — The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way’s Women United Women With Heart Luncheon and Awards event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Opelousas Civic Center. Tickets at $25.
Two women leaders in St. Landry and Evangeline parishes who have distinguished themselves as caring, compassionate philanthropists and community volunteers will be recognized.
A “Power of the Purse” purse auction will also be a highlight of the event.
Proceeds from the event will support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL).

FAFSA workshop at EHS on March 13
Eunice High School will have a FAFSA workshop for parents from 8:30 a.m. until noon on March 13.
Parents are asked to bring 2017 tax forms if you would like to complete your FAFSA at school.

Unity March set for March 9
There will be a Unity March beginning at 9 a.m. March 9 at City Hall and will conclude at the Word Ministries on West Laurel. The purpose and mission of the walk is to bring and unite All together.
Religious leaders, community leaders, city officials, citizens, individuals are invited to walk together in unity and strive to end racism. The theme of the peaceful march is “Putting Unity Back in the Community.”
At the conclusion of the march at Word Ministries there will be leaders who will speak.

The City of Eunice released its Mardi Gras Festival bands lineup.
All live entertainment will be held at the stage located at Walnut and South 2nd streets.

Usher Appreciation program March 9
The Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunice will host its 12th annual Usher’s Appreciation Fellowship and mini worshop at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 9.
Ushers from all surrounding area churches are invited. Ushers are also invited and recognized during a 8:30 a.m. service Sunday, March 10.
The pastor of the church is Rev. Jermaine Tezeno.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.
For the month of February the bands include:
Feb. 16: Wallace Trahan & Rice N Gravy.
Feb. 23: Kenneth Benoit & The Gravel Road Band.
The Liberty performance admission is $5 at the door.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser connected to the city’s 125th anniversary.

DAV volunteer
drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.
Those interested, and one does Not have to be a veteran, are asked to call Miguel Pousson at 337-396-6392 for more information and details.

Farmers’ Market open Saturdays
The Eunice Farmers’ Market is meeting on South 2nd Street from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
