FBC Chataignier to hold Easter musical
The church choir of First Baptist Church of Chataignier will present an Easter Musical “Because He Lives,” at 10 a.m. April 14.
The public is invited to attend.

Acadian Baptist Center plans ground-breaking
The public is invited to Acadian Baptist Center’s ground-breaking ceremony marking the start of the construction of the new ABC Worship Center on April 11.
The $3 million, 18,000- square-foot center will seat 1,000 people and is paid for by the friends and supporters of ABC. About $2.3 million in gifts and pledges has been raised
The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel and will conclude with a free supper.

Coupons for seniors at Farmers’ Market
Beginning in May, senior citizens will be able to use coupons from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture to purchase fresh produce and honey from the Eunice Farmers’ Market. To get the free coupons, seniors must file an application with the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. These applications are available through the Council on Aging. Vendors who wish to be certified to participate in this program should call Sanford Wood at 337-457-0607.

Bulb & Blossom meeting set Monday
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 8 in the home of Barbara Wells.
Voting of new officers will take place at this meeting.
All members are encouraged to attend.

LSU Eunice Book Sale set for April 22
When doing Spring cleaning this spring, remember to bring in old books, magazines, etc. to the LSU Eunice Library for its book sale set for the week of April 22.

Symphony presents Spring Concert
The Eunice Symphony will host “L’Orchestre de l’Amour at 6 p.m. April 14 at the Liberty Theater.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with a performance at 6 p.m. Featured will be an Elvis impersonator and ballet dancers.
Tickets are $5 with children under 7 admitted free.

First Baptist Church of Eunice will present an Easter Musical, “Amazing Love, How Can It Be?”, at 6 p.m., Sunday, April 14.
“Amazing Love, How Can It Be?” was created by Russell Mauldin, Sue C. Smith and features music by Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher and Lauran Daigle.
Th public is invited and admission is free.

St. Luke Baptist to celebrate anniversary
St. Luke Baptist Church of Vidrine will celebrate its ninth year Pastor and wife, the Rev. and sister Lloyd Antoine, anniversary at 1 p.m. April 28. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Jermaine Tezeno of Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunice.

Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.
For the month of April the bands include:
April 6: Al Roger & Louisiana Pride.
April 13: The Camp Jammers.
April 20: Mike Meche & Cajun Stompers.
The Liberty performance admission is $5 at the door.

Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald reunion
The Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald School committee will be extending an invitation to its 11th biennial reunion. The reunion is open to those who have attended Joseph Celestine High School or Rosenwald School.
The reunion activities will be held at the Celestine Community Center in Mamou on July 26-28.

BBQ dinners at St. Mathilda April 7
St. Mathilda Church’s spring BBQ chicken or pork dinners will be on sale from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7 with pickup at the Bishop Ceaser Center.
A donation of $10 will be accepted.

Kindergarten registration
Registration at Highland Elementary for 2019-2020 kindergarten students will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. April 9, in the school’s cafeteria.
Parents are asked to bring their child’s original birth certificate, updated shot record, and proof of residence (example: current utility bill showing name and address). If you do not have these documents, the student cannot be registered at this time. No exceptions; however, an alternate date will be scheduled, to be announced at a later date for late registration.
Parents can check with the local health unit for updated shot record and birth certificate information.
*Kindergarten registration dates will be from 9 until 11 a.m. at the schools listed below

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Lafayette Ballet Theatre presents ‘Excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty’
LAFAYETTE— Lafayette Ballet Theatre’s presents Excerpts from the timeless tale “The Sleeping Beauty”.
Three performances are scheduled in the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Moncus Theater: 7 p.m. May 4; and 2 and 5 p.m. May 5.
Lafayette Ballet Theatre, with dancers from its official school Dance Conservatory, will present famous variations from all three acts of the ballet, The Sleeping Beauty”. Featuring the celebrated music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the performance will be one hour in length.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Farmers’ Market open Saturdays

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
