Rotary seeks nominations for Administrative Professional
The Eunice Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2019 Eunice Administrative Professional of the Year. The winner will receive a free trip to Branson, Missouri; courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.
The event will be held May 1.
Nomination letters can be mailed to Pucheu Law Office at P.O. Box 1109, Eunice, LA 70535, Attn: Admin Asst Day.
The deadline for nomination is April 26.
The Rotary’s Club 33rd annual luncheon will be held at noon May 1 at St. Thomas More Social Hall.

Cassidy announces constituent assistance events
BATON ROUGE—Staff for U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), will hold two constituent assistance events in Acadiana on Thursday and April 16.
Members of Dr. Cassidy’s staff will be available to meet with Louisiana residents seeking help with federal agencies, including obtaining Social Security, Medicare and veterans’ benefits.

FBC Chataignier to hold Easter musical
The church choir of First Baptist Church of Chataignier will present an Easter Musical “Because He Lives,” at 10 a.m. April 14.
The public is invited to attend.

Lafayette Concert Band to perform
LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Concert Band, under the direction of Gerald Guilbeaux will present the second concert of its 2019 season, “The Greatest Show on Earth,” at 5 p.m. Sunday at Parc Lafayette located at the corner of Kaliste Saloom Road and Camellia Boulevard.
The free concert will feature a variety of selections specially selected for this outdoor setting. “We’ll be recreating musically the environment of the “Big Top” during the golden era of the American Circus,” says director Guilbeaux.
A part of the Lafayette musical community since 1982, the LCB is comprised of 85 talented woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentalists. Members come together on Tuesday evenings to rehearse from late August through June. They travel from more than 15 communities surrounding Lafayette where they pursue careers as varied as accounting, education, engineering, computer science, homemaking, banking, medicine, law and retirement.

Acadian Baptist Center plans ground-breaking
The public is invited to Acadian Baptist Center’s ground-breaking ceremony marking the start of the construction of the new ABC Worship Center on today.
The $3 million, 18,000- square-foot center will seat 1,000 people and is paid for by the friends and supporters of ABC. About $2.3 million in gifts and pledges has been raised
The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel and will conclude with a free supper.

Coupons for seniors at Farmers’ Market
Beginning in May, senior citizens will be able to use coupons from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture to purchase fresh produce and honey from the Eunice Farmers’ Market.
To get the free coupons, seniors must file an application with the St. Landry Parish Council on Aging. You may obtain one of these applications by calling. Sanford Wood at 337-457-0607.
Vendors who wish to be certified to participate in the program should also call Sanford Wood.

W.C. Read Volunteer fire fundraiser set
The W.C. Read Volunteer Fire Department in Mamou will hold its annual barbcue pork dinner from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
Drive through pickup will be available at the fire station at the intersection of La. 13 and La. 374.
A donation of $8 will be accepted. Proceeds will be used to fund department operations.

LSU Eunice Book Sale set for April 22
When doing Spring cleaning this spring, remember to bring in old books, magazines, etc. to the LSU Eunice Library for its book sale set for the week of April 22.

Symphony presents Spring Concert
The Eunice Symphony will host “L’Orchestre de l’Amour at 6 p.m. April 14 at the Liberty Theater.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with a performance at 6 p.m. Featured will be an Elvis impersonator and ballet dancers.
Tickets are $5 with children under 7 admitted free.

First Baptist Church of Eunice will present an Easter Musical, “Amazing Love, How Can It Be?”, at 6 p.m., Sunday.
“Amazing Love, How Can It Be?” was created by Russell Mauldin, Sue C. Smith and features music by Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher and Lauran Daigle.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald reunion
The Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald School committee will be extending an invitation to its 11th biennial reunion. The reunion is open to those who have attended Joseph Celestine High School or Rosenwald School.
The reunion activities will be held at the Celestine Community Center in Mamou on July 26-28.

Kindergarten registration
Registration for 2019-2020 kindergarten students will be held this month.
Parents are asked to bring their child’s original birth certificate, updated shot record, and proof of residence (example: current utility bill showing name and address). If you do not have these documents, the student cannot be registered at this time. No exceptions; however, an alternate date will be scheduled, to be announced at a later date for late registration.
Parents can check with the local health unit for updated shot record and birth certificate information.
*Kindergarten registration dates will be from 9 until 11 a.m. at Eunice Elementary, Thursday, April 11.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Lafayette Ballet Theatre presents ‘Excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty’
LAFAYETTE— Lafayette Ballet Theatre’s presents Excerpts from the timeless tale “The Sleeping Beauty”.
Three performances are scheduled in the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Moncus Theater: 7 p.m. May 4; and 2 and 5 p.m. May 5.
Lafayette Ballet Theatre, with dancers from its official school Dance Conservatory, will present famous variations from all three acts of the ballet, The Sleeping Beauty”. Featuring the celebrated music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the performance will be one hour in length.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes

A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
