Poboy Fundraiser Thursday at Oliva Dodd’s
Tickets for a Poboy fundraiser sale for Oliva Dodd’s dancers to attend a dance convention in Chicago this summer is set from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday.
A donation of $8 will be accepted and includes a sausage poboy, sausage from LeJeune’s, chips and a side of Jack Miller’s barbecue sauce. Pickup is at Oliva Dodd’s Studio on East Laurel.
Delivery is available to businesses who order five or more; otherwise pickup is at the studio.

New Life Pregnancy Care Center event set May 2
The New Life Pregnancy Care Center in Mamou will have a free Open House for the public at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. The center is located at 1415 7th St., Mamou, across from the emergency entrance of Savoy Medical in Mamou.
There will be a free public tour of the facility and a dinner honoring area doctors and other medical personnel. The event is hosted by New Life Pregnancy Care Board of Directors, the Baptist Nursing Fellowship, and the Acadia Association of Women’s Missions and Ministry.
The New Life Pregnancy Care offers free pregnancy tests, ultra sounds, an earn and learn program counseling. Dr. Kayla Fontenot and nurse practitioner Tommy Newman are a part of the care center.

Rotary seeks nominations for Administrative Professional
The Eunice Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2019 Eunice Administrative Professional of the Year. The winner will receive a free trip to Branson, Missouri; courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.
The event will be held May 1.
Nomination letters can be mailed to Pucheu Law Office at P.O. Box 1109, Eunice, LA 70535, Attn: Admin Asst Day.
The deadline for nomination is April 26.
The Rotary’s Club 33rd annual luncheon will be held at noon May 1 at St. Thomas More Social Hall.

Cassidy announces constituent assistance events
BATON ROUGE—Staff for U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), will hold two constituent assistance events in Acadiana on April 16.
Members of Dr. Cassidy’s staff will be available to meet with Louisiana residents seeking help with federal agencies, including obtaining Social Security, Medicare and veterans’ benefits.

Bulb Club meeting set for May 7
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the home of Dean Deshotel.
Make note of the change in date for this meeting. All future meetings will be the first Tuesday of each month.
New Officers will be sworn in. Members are asked to attend, and membership is welcomed to anyone interested.

Coupons for seniors at Farmers’ Market
Beginning in May, senior citizens will be able to use coupons from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture to purchase fresh produce and honey from the Eunice Farmers’ Market.
To get the free coupons, seniors must file an application with the St. Landry Parish Council on Aging. You may obtain one of these applications by calling. Sanford Wood at 337-457-0607.
Vendors who wish to be certified to participate in the program should also call Sanford Wood.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

The Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald School committee will be extending an invitation to its 11th biennial reunion. The reunion is open to those who have attended Joseph Celestine High School or Rosenwald School.
The reunion activities will be held at the Celestine Community Center in Mamou on July 26-28.

Lafayette Ballet Theatre presents ‘Excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty’
LAFAYETTE— Lafayette Ballet Theatre’s presents Excerpts from the timeless tale “The Sleeping Beauty”.
Three performances are scheduled in the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Moncus Theater: 7 p.m. May 4; and 2 and 5 p.m. May 5.
Lafayette Ballet Theatre, with dancers from its official school Dance Conservatory, will present famous variations from all three acts of the ballet, The Sleeping Beauty”. Featuring the celebrated music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the performance will be one hour in length.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes

A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
