Farmer’s Market at Community Garden Saturday
There will be a Farmer’s Market at the Eunice Community Gardens, located at 2101 W. Ash, behind the DMV, in Eunice from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday.

LSUE Testing Center offers HiSET exam
The newly opened Testing Center on the LSU Eunice campus has expanded its offerings after being named a HiSET (GED) testing site.
The HiSET exam is a test used to measure high school equivalency skills. It is designed for out-of-school youth and adults without a high school diploma.
The LSUE Testing Center added HiSET and CLEP to its lineup of exams that it proctors. LSUE also offers Accuplacer, Peregrine, TEAS, and proctored exams for LSUE and non-LSUE college students.
The Center is open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and is located on the first floor of the LSUE LeDoux Library.

New Life Pregnancy Care Center event set
The New Life Pregnancy Care Center in Mamou will have a free open house for the public at 6 p.m. May 2. The center is located at 1415 7th St., Mamou, across from the emergency entrance of Savoy Medical in Mamou.
There will be a free public tour of the facility and a dinner honoring area doctors and other medical personnel. The event is hosted by New Life Pregnancy Care Board of Directors, the Baptist Nursing Fellowship, and the Acadia Association of Women’s Missions and Ministry.
The New Life Pregnancy Care offers free pregnancy tests, ultra sounds, an earn and learn program counseling. Dr. Kayla Fontenot and nurse practitioner Tommy Newman are a part of the care center.

Rotary seeks nominations for Administrative Professional
The Eunice Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2019 Eunice Administrative Professional of the Year. The winner will receive a free trip to Branson, Missouri; courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.
The event will be held May 1.
Nomination letters can be mailed to Pucheu Law Office at P.O. Box 1109, Eunice, LA 70535, Attn: Admin Asst Day.
The deadline for nomination is April 26.
The Rotary’s Club 33rd annual luncheon will be held at noon May 1 at St. Thomas More Social Hall.

Life Share’s blood drives set in April
Life Share’s blood drives scheduled for April:
From 9 a.m. until noon, April 29: Anytime Fitness in Ville Platte.
From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., April 29: Coburn’s Supply in Eunice.

Bulb Club meeting set for May 7
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the home of Dean Deshotel.
Make note of the change in date for this meeting. All future meetings will be the first Tuesday of each month.
New Officers will be sworn in. Members are asked to attend, and membership is welcomed to anyone interested.

Coupons for seniors at Farmers’ Market
Beginning in May, senior citizens will be able to use coupons from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture to purchase fresh produce and honey from the Eunice Farmers’ Market.
To get the free coupons, seniors must file an application with the St. Landry Parish Council on Aging. You may obtain one of these applications by calling. Sanford Wood at 337-457-0607.
Vendors who wish to be certified to participate in the program should also call Sanford Wood.

Letter Carrier’s Food Drive set for May 11
The annual “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive” (Letter Carrier’s food drive) is set for Saturday, May 11.
Your mail carrier will pick up your sturdy bag of non perishable food items at your mail box on this Saturday.
All food items collected will be delivered to the Eunice Food Bank.

Come Lord Jesus Mass set May 28
There will be a Come Lord Jesus Anniversary Mass celebration at 5:30 p.m. at St. Augustine’s in Basile. A covered dish reception will follow at the Speyrer Hall in Basile.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Satellite Club will have BBQ fundraiser
Members and officers of the Satellite Club Inc. will have its annual Young Man of Character BBQ fundraiser from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Southeast Neighborhood Center pavilion, located at 101 City Street in Eunice.
A donation of $8 will be accepted for a pork steak sandwich with a drink, and a $6 donation will provide you with a chicken leg quarter sandwich and a drink.
One can purchase a ticket with any club member.

When doing Spring cleaning this spring, remember to bring in old books, magazines, etc. to the LSU Eunice Library for its book sale set for the week of April 22.
Come by Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.; and on Friday, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald School committee will be extending an invitation to its 11th biennial reunion. The reunion is open to those who have attended Joseph Celestine High School or Rosenwald School.

Lafayette Ballet Theatre presents ‘Excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty’
LAFAYETTE— Lafayette Ballet Theatre’s presents Excerpts from the timeless tale “The Sleeping Beauty”.
Three performances are scheduled in the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Moncus Theater: 7 p.m. May 4; and 2 and 5 p.m. May 5.
Lafayette Ballet Theatre, with dancers from its official school Dance Conservatory, will present famous variations from all three acts of the ballet, The Sleeping Beauty”. Featuring the celebrated music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the performance will be one hour in length.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes

A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
