Farmer’s Market at Community Gardens
Until further notice, the Eunice Farmers’ Market will be meeting at the Community Garden (behind the DMV). Weather permitting, we will meet each Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, call Sanford Wood at 337-457-0607.

LSUE Testing Center offers HiSET exam
The newly opened Testing Center on the LSU Eunice campus has expanded its offerings after being named a HiSET (GED) testing site.
The HiSET exam is a test used to measure high school equivalency skills. It is designed for out-of-school youth and adults without a high school diploma.
The LSUE Testing Center added HiSET and CLEP to its lineup of exams that it proctors. LSUE also offers Accuplacer, Peregrine, TEAS, and proctored exams for LSUE and non-LSUE college students.
The Center is open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and is located on the first floor of the LSUE LeDoux Library.

Summer reading and Storytime at library
Registration for Eunice Public Library’s summer reading program is May 28.
Storytime at the library will be at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday beginning June 5. Storytime hour includes a story reading, craft, snacks and door prizes for children.

Pray rosary with CDA at St. Anthony
Throughout the month of May, Court Eunice 208, Catholic Daughters of the Americas will be praying a rosary each day at 5:30 p.m. in the rosary garden at St. Anthony Church.
Everyone is invited to come out and pray with the group.

Come Lord Jesus Mass set May 28
There will be a Come Lord Jesus Anniversary Mass celebration at 5:30 p.m. at St. Augustine’s in Basile. A covered dish reception will follow at the Speyrer Hall in Basile.

Fire District 6 BBQ fundraiser set June 4
St. Landry Parish Fire District 6 will have a fundraiser BBQ hamburger sale from 4 until 6:30 p.m. June 4 at the Word Ministries parking lot in Eunice.
A donation of $5 will include a hamburger, chips and water.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

The Liberty performance admission is $5 at the door.

Prairie Acadian Cultural Center plans summer camps
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice is now accepting applications for week-long day camps Camp de Cuisine and Camp Bonjour. The center is located at 250 W. Park Ave..

Camps are limited to 20 campers each on a first-come, first-served basis. Camper registration is not guaranteed until application and fee are received at the center; fee payment is by check or cash only (no credit cards). Campers must be the minimum or maximum age by the first day of their camp session.
Camp de Cuisine is for ages 9-12 and will be held Monday-Friday, July 15-19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The supply and material fee is $60. Campers will take a journey of discovery through Louisiana foodways, sharing recipes and traditions and learning the path that food takes from farm to table. Field trips will visit local farmers and food places. Campers will learn to cook Cajun favorites and will present their own balanced meal using local ingredients on the last day of class.
Camp Bonjour is for ages 6-8 and will be held Monday-Friday, July 8-12, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily. The supply and material fee is $30. Campers will explore zydeco music, Cajun dancing, old-fashioned games, storytelling, the National Park Service, hands-on arts and crafts, and presentations on Cajun culture.
The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is managed by the National Park Service as part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The center features exhibits interpreting the culture of the Acadians who settled the prairies of southwest Louisiana. Special programs every Saturday include Explore & Restore craft workshops for kids 10 a.m. to noon and Cajun Conversations to learn and practice conversational Cajun French 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday programs include music and dancing beginning at 2:45 p.m. and a cooking demonstration beginning at 4 p.m. The center is open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. The center is closed on all federal holidays, but open on Mardi Gras. Admission to the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center is free and all normally scheduled activities and demonstrations are free and open to the public.

Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald reunion
The Joseph Celestine/Rosenwald School committee will be extending an invitation to its 11th biennial reunion. The reunion is open to those who have attended Joseph Celestine High School or Rosenwald School.
The reunion activities will be held at the Celestine Community Center in Mamou on July 26-28.

CDA Court meeting set June 3
There will be a temporary meeting place change for the Court Eunice 208 Catholic Daughters of Americas.
The meeting will be held at St. Thomas More Education building, classroom at 6 p.m. June 3. One is asked to enter for the meeting on the north entrance, facing Sittig Road.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser connected to the city’s 125th anniversary.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
