Court 208 Rosary during October
Throughout the month of October, Court Eunice 208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will be leading a rosary each day at 5:30 p.m. in the rosary garden at St. Anthony Church.
Everyone is invited to come and pray.

Court 208 monthly meeting set Monday
Court Eunice 208 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the St. Thomas More Education building. Members are asked to enter the building through north entrance at Sittig Road.
All members are encouraged to be there. New membership is open.

Annual Public Prayer Rally set Oct. 12
Court Eunice 208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas announces the annual Public Prayer Rally for our country.
America needs Fatima prayer rally will take place on Oct. 12 in front of the rectory at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and this event will be held regardless of weather.
Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. The rosary will begin at noon, on this day, in every United States time zone, to honor Our Blessed Mother and ask for her protection and intercessory prayers for America.
Those attending should wear their CDA, LAS badges or shirts of recognition, Example: LSUE Catholic, KC’s, Knights of Peter Clavier, etc., as photos will be taken.

Circus coming to Eunice
The Circus Saurus will feature artists from around the world at performances scheduled at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday next to Community Center in Eunice.
You will be transported to a whimsical world where mystical creatures will come to life right before your eyes. New heights of imagination will be reached as the elusive unicorn prances through the center ring to delight children of all ages. Dinosaurs will once again shake the ground we walk on as we travel back millions of years and have your heart captivated by our majestic asian elephants!
You will also be amazed by daredevils on the Wheel of Destiny, tumbling acrobats, high speed jugglers, hilarious clowns and aerial artists who will soar to new heights at the apex of the Big Top!
Carson & Barnes Circus invites the Eunice community to join them as they bathe their elephants at 3 p.m. before the performances. It takes about 500 gallons of water and a gallon of special soap just to give one elephant their daily bath.

Highland ‘Proud to Be A Bobcat’ yard sign fundraiser set
Highland Elementary is currently having a school-wide fundraiser “Proud to Be a Bobcat” Yard signs.
The cost is $15 per sign, and to purchase, contact any Highland Elementary faculty or student or come by the school.

United-Way Boogie Ball set Oct. 19
The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way will hold a Boogie Ball and Silent Auction at The Delta Grand in Opelousas from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 19.

Mt. Olive Cemetery volunteers needed
Families of the Mount Olive Cemetery, located at 1199 E. Ardoin (on Old Crowley Road), are in dire need of volunteers for lawn maintenance, grass mowing, and up keep of the cemetery. It is a public cemetery, established many years ago.
Family members of families buried at this cemetery are asked to help in the upkeep.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.
Families who wish to donate are asked to send to Keith Lavergne, cemetery manager, at St. Louis Cemetery, P.O. Box 325, Eunice, LA 70535.

Farmers Market at DMV parking lot
The Eunice Farmers’ Market is held in the DMV parking lot, and normally is open from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
However, on the third Saturday of each month the market is joined by outside vendors and the market remains open until 3 p.m. The market always has fresh produce, honey, and canned goods. On third Saturdays there are also baked goods and arts and crafts.

St. Joan of Arc Bazaar set Oct. 26
St. Joan of Arc in Oberlin will have its 31st annual Bazaar from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.
Admission is free and events are family-friendly.
There will be bingo, jambalaya, and other food items for the entire weekend. Kids can enjoy a Kids Zone, Fun Jump, face painting and games.
There will also be live music, Sweet Shop, and silent and live auction.

Discounts, deals at state parks
BATON ROUGE — Louisiana State Parks will be offering additional discounts on overnight facilities at the 21 parks located through Louisiana. Following the Military and Badge discounts for active/retired military and first responders, two discounts will be offered seasonally with third discount offered year-round.
62PLUS – 50% off campsite stays year-round for customers age 62 and over.
SNEAUX – Customers age 62 and over are eligible to book four consecutive campsite nights and receive the next three nights free; valid annually Oct. 1 – Jan, 31.
GETOUTSIDE – 15% discount on overnight stays in cabins Mondays – Thursdays only; valid annually Sept. 1 – Jan. 31.
The discounts are valid using the Louisiana State Parks online reservations system at ReserveLaStateParks.com. These discounts cannot be used with other discounts. Identification for the 62PLUS and SNEAUX discounts will be required at check-in.

LSUE Testing Center offers HiSET exam
The Testing Center on the LSU Eunice campus has expanded its offerings after being named a HiSET (GED) testing site.
The HiSET exam is a test used to measure high school equivalency skills. It is designed for out-of-school youth and adults without a high school diploma.
The LSUE Testing Center added HiSET and CLEP to its lineup of exams that it proctors. LSUE also offers Accuplacer, Peregrine, TEAS, and proctored exams for LSUE and non-LSUE college students.
The Center is open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and is located on the first floor of the LSUE LeDoux Library.

Hour of Prayer at New Zion Baptist Church
The New Zion Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to an Hour of Power Prayer every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the J.G. Frank, Senior Christian Life Center, located at 251 Nimitz in Eunice.
On the third Thursday of each month, senior citizens are invited to fellowship with a meal immediately following the prayer service.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

DAV volunteer drivers needed
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is in dire need of volunteer drivers to drive veterans from Eunice to Alexandria.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
