Eunice Symphony Orchestra postponed
The Eunice Symphony Orchestra, now in its 19th year, is gearing up for its concert, “Classics by Candlelight.”
However with the conornavirus the orchestra made a decision to posposed the April concert to a later date.

VFW bingo, VA van trips cancelled
The VFW bingo nights have been closed by order of the governor until the coronavirus issue has passed.
Also the Veterans Administration (VA) has cancelled all VA van trips to the VA facilities until further notice.
Veterans with appointments should contact their VA facility for further information about cancellation or rescheduling.

OGHS Foundation plans golf tournament
OPELOUSAS — Registration is open for the 14th Annual OGHS Foundation Golf Tournament scheduled April 6 at Farm D’Allie Golf Club in Carencro.
The shotgun start begins at noon. Each four-man team will receive a complimentary registration gift and will be competing for first, second and third place cash awards as well as a Par 3 Poker prize. Special to the tournament this year is a helicopter ball drop, which will take place at 11:45 a.m. for a chance to win $1,000.
Support for the tournament enables the OGHS Foundation to provide scholarships to students in St. Landry Parish. Since 2006, the OGHS foundation has awarded over 100 scholarships to students in the health care field.

Season tickets on sale for Players’ Theatre
Eunice Players’ Theatre now has season tickets for their 51st season on sale.
Single tickets are $30 for a single ticket; $100 for a Patron (4 tickets), and $150 for an Angel (6 tickets).
Season ticket holders have access to Players’ reservation line, the three main shows for the season (it does not include the summer workshop), and a ballot and invitation to the next Irving Awards.
The names of Patrons and Angels are included on every main shows’ program.
Season tickets also are available from every board member and at Beaucoup, 114 S. 2nd St., or by calling 337-550-4727.

Vet organizations seek members
The three veterans organizations in Eunice are looking for new members. American Legion Post 129, VFW Post 8971 and the DAV chapter are welcoming new members.

Satellite Social Club BBQ fundraiser set
The Satellite Social & Civic Club Inc. will have a BBQ Fundraiser from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at the Southeast Neighborhood Center.
Offered are different BBQ sandwiches. Those will include pork steak sandwiches, with a drink and chips for $8; Chicken leg quarter with a drink/ chips for $6; and Hot link sandwich with a drink/chips for $5.
The Southeast Neighborhood Center is located at 101 City Street in Eunice.

Highland ‘Proud to Be A Bobcat’ yard sign fundraiser set
Highland Elementary is currently having a school-wide fundraiser “Proud to Be a Bobcat” Yard signs.
The cost is $15 per sign, and to purchase, contact any Highland Elementary faculty or student or come by the school.

Mt. Olive Cemetery volunteers needed
Families of the Mount Olive Cemetery, located at 1199 E. Ardoin (on Old Crowley Road), are in dire need of volunteers for lawn maintenance, grass mowing, and up keep of the cemetery. It is a public cemetery, established many years ago.
Family members of families buried at this cemetery are asked to help in the upkeep.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.
Families who wish to donate are asked to send to Keith Lavergne, cemetery manager, at St. Louis Cemetery, P.O. Box 325, Eunice, LA 70535.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
