Veterans Day program set
The VFW Post 8971 will have a Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the VFW Post Hall on U.S. 190 East.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Lloyd Antoine.
All veterans are encouraged to introduce themselves and any veteran who has served in an overseas war are welcomed to become members of the Post 8971.
Gumbo will be served.

Bulb & Blossom Club meeting set Monday
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the home of Barbara Wells.
All members are encouraged to attend and membership is welcomed to anyone interested.

EHS annual auction set for Nov. 17
The Eunice High auction will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at Nick’s on 2nd Street.
Auctions items can be dropped off at Totally Tanned at 1801 W. Laurel Ave.
The auction will be lived broadcast on 92.5 KVPI.

Pecan sales at First United Methodist
The First United Methodist Church is holding its annual pecan sale orders. These must be received by Monday and will be ready for delivery on Nov. 16. Both halves and pieces are available in 16 oz. or 3-pound packages.
Speciality pecans available are chocolate, sugar, roasted, spicy, and praline crunch.

Players’ Theatre will hold board meeting
The Eunice Players’ Theatre will have its general board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1.
This meeting is open to all season ticket holders. There will be a nomination and a vote on at least one new board member for the 2021 year.
There will be a discussion of improvements that have been made to the theater this year.
The meeting will be held at the theater located at 121 South 2nd Street in Eunice.

Grief Share group Surviving the Holidays
The Grief Share group at First Baptist Church in Eunice will host a free Surviving the Holidays Grief Share group seminar program from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 inside the church’s fellowship hall.
The program is designed for both adults and children, and will be a time to discover how to deal with emotions during the holidays after a loss, what to do about traditions, and helpful tips for surviving social events.

Grief Share group at First Baptist
The First Baptist Church in Eunice is currently sponsoring a Grief Share group program. The free program will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday and will last for 14 weeks, until Dec. 6.
The Grief Share group is designed and open to all those who had lost loved ones from Covid or accidents.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser for the city’s 125th anniversary.

VFW bingo on Thursdays & Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 will hold Bingo once again beginning Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
The public is invited each Thursday and Sunday at 7 p.m. to play Bingo at the VFW Hall located on Hwy. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
The VFW Hall doors open at 4 p.m.

VA van trips are available again
The Veterans Administration (VA) has started making van trips to the facilities, Monday through Friday. One is asked to meet at the Eunice City Hall parking lot.

Vet organizations seek members
The three veterans organizations in Eunice are looking for new members. American Legion Post 129, VFW Post 8971 and the DAV chapter are welcoming new members.

Mt. Olive Cemetery volunteers needed
Families of the Mount Olive Cemetery, located at 1199 E. Ardoin (on Old Crowley Road), are in dire need of volunteers for lawn maintenance, grass mowing, and up keep of the cemetery. It is a public cemetery, established many years ago.
Family members of families buried at this cemetery are asked to help in the upkeep.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.
Families who wish to donate are asked to send to Keith Lavergne, cemetery manager, at St. Louis Cemetery, P.O. Box 325, Eunice, LA 70535.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
