LSUE to hold Winter Fair Dec. 4
The LSU Eunice Campus Activities Board (CAB) will hold a Winter Fair on Dec. 4. The event is free and open to the public.
The Acadian Center Front Lawn will have real snow to create a Winter Wonderland for kids of all ages.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. with arts and crafts as well as an opportunity with to take pictures with Santa Claus.
The night will end with a 6 p.m. showing of The Polar Express on the lawn with hot chocolate. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the Winter Fair.

Players’ Theatre will hold board meeting
The Eunice Players’ Theatre will have its general board meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 1.
This meeting is open to all season ticket holders. There will be a nomination and a vote on at least one new board member for the 2021 year.
There will be a discussion of improvements that have been made to the theater this year.
The meeting will be held at the theater located at 121 South 2nd Street in Eunice.

Voter deadlines announced
Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, announced the deadline to request a mail ballot is Dec. 1 for the Dec. 5 runoff election.
The deadline is for all voters except military, overseas and hospitalized voters.
Mail ballots must have a witness that signs the affidavit with their enclosed ballot.
Early voting begins Nov. 20 to 28. The office will be closed for Thanksgiving and Acadian Day, Nov. 27. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Early voting locations: Courthouse, 118 S. Court St., suite 114; and Eunice City Hall, 300 S. Second St., Eunice.

Grief Share group at First Baptist
The First Baptist Church in Eunice is currently sponsoring a Grief Share group program. The free program will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday and will last for 14 weeks, until Dec. 6.
The Grief Share group is designed and open to all those who had lost loved ones from Covid or accidents.

Food Bank Food Drive set for Dec. 10
The annual Food Bank Food Drive in Eunice is set from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10 at the Food Bank, located at 2101 West Ash, directly behind the DMV.
All food items are needed, canned goods, rice, sugar, boxed macaroni & cheese, toiletries, diapers, detergents, soap. Monetary donations are accepted as well.
The Eunice Food Bank is opened from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser for the city’s 125th anniversary.
Anyone wishing to buy a book is asked to call 337-457-7389, extension 1, or 337-305-3672.

VFW bingo on Thursdays & Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 will hold Bingo once again.
The public is invited each Thursday and Sunday at 7 p.m. to play Bingo at the VFW Hall located on Hwy. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
The VFW Hall doors open at 4 p.m.

VA van trips are available again
The Veterans Administration (VA) has started making van trips to the facilities, Tuesdays and Thursdays. One is asked to meet at the Eunice City Hall parking lot.

Vet organizations seek members
The three veterans organizations in Eunice are looking for new members. American Legion Post 129, VFW Post 8971 and the DAV chapter are welcoming new members.

Mt. Olive Cemetery volunteers needed
Families of the Mount Olive Cemetery, located at 1199 E. Ardoin (on Old Crowley Road), are in dire need of volunteers for lawn maintenance, grass mowing, and up keep of the cemetery. It is a public cemetery, established many years ago.
Family members of families buried at this cemetery are asked to help in the upkeep.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.
Families who wish to donate are asked to send to Keith Lavergne, cemetery manager, at St. Louis Cemetery, P.O. Box 325, Eunice, LA 70535.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
