Registration, voting deadlines
The last day to register to vote online for the March 20 election is Feb. 27, according to Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters.
Individuals can go online at geauxvote.com to register to vote and take care of any changes that need to be made on their record. The forms must be postmarked or submitted by Feb. 27.
Early Voting begins March 6 and ends March 13. Early voting locations will be at the Registrar of Voters office, 118 S. Court St., Suite 114, and Eunice City Hall, 300 S. 2nd St, Eunice. Early voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day with the exception of Sunday.
Other important dates noted by Milburn include:
— March 16. Deadline to request mail ballot from registrar.
— March 19. Deadline for registrar to receive voted mail ballot other than military and overseas.

Single parenting support group
The next Single & Parenting seminar support group begins Wednesday. The 13-week Single & Parenting sessions will start with a DVD than move to small groups. There will be a group facilitator for men and women. The group meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Eunice, 331 Park Ave.

Clovis Crawfish books on sale
The City of Eunice is selling Clovis Crawfish books by Mary Alice Fontenot as a fundraiser for the city’s 125th anniversary.
Anyone wishing to buy a book is asked to call 337-457-7389, extension 1, or 337-305-3672.

Grief recovery, support group
A 13-week grief share and support group is planned from today through May 23 at the First Baptist Church of Eunice.
The program is a video seminar series featuring some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective.
The video seminars are combined with support group discussion of the materials presented during the video. There are two groups designed for men and women.

VFW bingo canceled
The VFW Post 8971 will not hold Bingo due to COVID-19 restrictions.

VA van trips are available again
The Veterans Administration (VA) has started making van trips to the facilities, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Riders are asked to meet at the Eunice City Hall parking lot.

Vet organizations seek members
The three veterans organizations in Eunice are looking for new members. American Legion Post 129, VFW Post 8971 and the DAV chapter are welcoming new members.

St. Louis Cemetery asking for donations
The St. Louis Cemetery, located at the corner of St. Louis Road and Sittig in Eunice is seeking donations for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery strictly operates by donations and volunteers. The cemetery is not a private one.
Families who wish to donate are asked to send to Keith Lavergne, cemetery manager, at St. Louis Cemetery, P.O. Box 325, Eunice, LA 70535.

Free hearing aids, amplified phones
Free amplified telephones and hearing aids are available to Louisiana residents. The program is funded by a state agency, Louisiana Commission for the Deaf.

Funeral honor guard for vets needs help
A foundation has been set for the St Landry Parish Veteran Funeral Honor Guard and now it needs donations to become a reality, according to Lincoln “Link” Savoie, coordinator.
