ABC celebrates Centennial Saturday
Acadian Baptist Center, will host its Centennial Celebration on Saturday honoring 100 years of ministry. Acadia Baptist Academy opened its doors in 1917 with the goal of offering Christian education to local and boarding students.
Acadian Baptist Center reopened those doors in 1975, offering Christian camps and retreats. The day will begin at 9 a.m. with an opening prayer and welcome.
The speaker will be Steve Bennett. Throughout the day visitors can enjoy the antique car show, hot air balloon rides, music, cochon de lait, hay rides, fun jumps, face painting, and more.

Court Eunice CDA prayer rally Saturday
Court Eunice 208 Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have an annual public prayer rally for our country.
“America Needs Fatima” prayer service will take place on Saturday in the prayer garden of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 310 W. Vine St.
This event will be held regardless of weather. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A Rosary will begin at noon on this day, in every United states time zone, to honor Our Blessed Mother and ask for her protection and intercessory prayers for America.

Rodeo planned
The Eunice Pro Rodeo is scheduled Friday and Saturday at the T-Ranch Arena.
Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
Events include saddle bronc riding, tie down calf roping, bull riding, bareback riding, barrel racing and breakaway roping.

LSUE French Table meet Fridays
The LSUE French Table will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Fridays at LSUE Continuing Ed Building, Room 117, next to baseball field.
On Friday, Oct. 13, a discussion of the way folks dressed to go to church,
On Friday, Oct. 20, a topic of discussion will be superstitions from long ago.
On Friday, Nov. 3 a discussion of “ways of showing dislike for something or someone”.
On Friday, Nov. 10, a discussion of early toys for children.
The event is free, and welcomed to all. Coffee will be served.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.
For the month of October the bands will include:
Oct. 14: Kenneth Benoit & The Gravel Road Band;
Oct. 21: Cajun August Broussard & Friends;
Oct. 28: A performance at LSUE, Experience Louisiana Festival, Courtbouillon, featuring Wayne Toups, Steve Riley & Wilson Savoy.
The Liberty performance admission is $5 at the door.

EHS Bobcat Auction set Oct. 17
The annual Eunice High School Bobcat Auction, sponsored by the EHS Booster Club, will be held from 6 until 10 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Northwest Community Center.
It will be broadcast on 105-5 KEUN, streaming on ustream.com (search for “KEUN RADIO”), and audio will be live on Charter Cable channel 198.
Items may be viewed on Facebook (EHS Booster Club Auction 2017). Auction viewers and participants are invited and welcomed to come to the event and view the auction live.
Gumbo will be served for a small fee charged, and a cash bar will be available.
There will be a silent auction going on at Northwest Community Center during the live auction with many other items to view and bid on.

Heart Health class set Oct. 24 at LSUE
The LSU Ag Center will offer a class on Heart Health beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Heart Disease is the number one cause of death in Louisiana. For a $5 admission fee, attendees will learn the various aspects of heart disease, risk factors of heart disease, prevention and maintenance of heart disease, and the signs of a heart attack and stroke. Heart healthy samplings will be served as well as recipes to take home.
The event will be held at LSUE in the Continuing Education Building (next to the baseball complex) Room 117.

Miss Yadah Pageant Oct. 14
There will be a Miss Yadah Natural Pageant on Saturday at the Word Ministries Church at 1960 W. Laurel, Eunice.
There will be seven different ages groups/divisions and a $40 entry fee is required.

Cameron’s Shoes 5K Run set Oct. 28
The annual Cameron’s Shoes Foundation 5K Charity Run/Walk will be held from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at LSUE campus, in conjunction with annual Experience Louisiana Festival.
Cameron’s Shoes, a charity foundation, formed and created by Stevie Guillory, a native of Eunice, provides shoes to poverty stricken families in Cali, Columbia.

Acadia Parish Dist. 4 Co-Ed Tourney set
The Acadia Fire Dist. 4 will host a Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Oct. 21-22 at the Eunice Rec Complex.
Entry fee is $225 per team and teams will consist of 7 guys and 3 girls.
There will be prizes for Champion and Runner-up.
There will also be a home run derby and a beer drinking contest.

Word Ministries 10- year celebration
Word Ministries in Eunice will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary October 26, 28 and 29.
There will be a Hallelujuah Praise on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.; A Holy Ghost Party on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. and on Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. there will be a guest minister Pastor Allen W. Ben from New Zion Baptist Church and Zion Travelers Church.

Family Fun Day at Pilgrim Rest
