Concealed handgun classes offered
Non-profit classes for a concealed handgun permit are scheduled Nov. 11 and Dec. 9 at the Masonic Lodge, 211 W. Park Ave., Eunice, according to an announcement from Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The courses include all the requirements needed for application to the state for a carrying a concealed handgun, but does not include the state fee. The course cost $100 and a spouse may attend for another $80.
Classes start at 7:30 p.m. and includes classroom instruction, applications, notary, fingerprints, firing range, a hot lunch, refreshments all day, and a certificate of completion as required by the state.
The course is taught by certified police instructors.
Participants should bring a photo identification, cash or check, handgun and a box of ammunition.

Garden Club meeting set Nov. 13
The Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will meet on Monday, Nov. 13 at the home of Angie Leger. Hosts Angie Leger and Dayna Lafleur will have a social at 5:30 pm, with the meeting starting at 6 pm.
All members are asked to attend and membership is welcomed to anyone interested.

Iota High mattress fundraiser set Nov. 12
The first annual Iota High School Mattress fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Iota High School gymnasium.
Every purchase will benefit Iota High School band.
All size will be available, name brands offered, layaway and delivery available. Accepting cash, check and credit card.
LSUE French Table meet Fridays
The LSUE French Table will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Fridays at LSUE Continuing Ed Building, Room 117, next to baseball field.
On Nov. 10, a discussion of early toys for children.
The event is free, and welcomed to all. Coffee will be served.
St. Thomas More KC Blood Drive Nov. 19
The St. More KC’s will host a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19 inside the social hall.
Blood donors are asked to bring a valid ID. All donors will receive a “Hunting For Donors” T-shirt.

Annual EHS Bobcat Blast set for Dec. 31
The annual Eunice High Bobcat Blast will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Northwest Community Ceenter.
Donations of $125 will get you a ticket which will admit 2 adults. All proceeds form the blast will go to EHS Athletic Association.
There will be a steak supper served at 7 p.m. and a dance from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
There will be cash prizes awarded.

Veterans Day celebration set Nov. 11
The Veterans Day celebration will be held Nov. 11 at the VFW Post 8971 on U.S. 190, Eunice.
Families of veterans are invited to attend the ceremony at 11 a.m. There will be an introduction of veterans and a flag retiring ceremony.
Lunch will be provided by sponsors of the American Legion, DAV and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8971.
Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.
