Qualifying begins Tuesday

Qualifying for parish offices is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the Delta Grand Theater, 120 S. Market St.,Opelousas.
Charles Jagneaux, St. Landry Parish clerk of court, announced qualifiers should bring their driver’s license or state identification, a copy of their voter registration. The voter registration is available at the registrar of voters office, Suite 114, St. Landry Parish Courthouse.
Qualifying fees must be paid by cash, cashier check from a state or national bank, or U.S. Postal Service money order.
Offices open for qualifying and the fees are:
District Judge 27th Judicial Court Division C $600.
Sheriff, $450.
Clerk of Court, $450.
Assessor, $450.
Corner, $450.
Parish president, $450.
State representative districts: (28, 40, 41, 46), $450.
State senator districts: (17, 24, 28) $600.
Council member Districts 1-13 $230.
Council member-Town of Leonville $80.
Alderman-District A, City of Opelousas $150.
Justice of The Peace-District 11 $150.
Justice of The Peace-District 12 $150.
The primary election is scheduled Oct. 14 and the general election is Nov. 18.
