A request for the approval of a subdivision west of Opelousas was rejected with five St. Landry Parish Council members casting “abstain” votes at Wednesday’s regular meeting.
Four members voted “yes,” but seven votes are needed for Council action. The five abstaining votes are the most abstentions in recent memory on an issue before the Council.
