Rotary Club’s downtown celebration canceled

The Eunice Rotary Club’s celebration of its 100th year on Saturday is canceled due to Hurricane Francine.
A social media post stated, “Having considered information from multiple sources and agencies, the decision has been made to cancel the food truck roundup and day of celebration planned for Saturday, September 14, 2024. We believe it is prudent to exercise an abundance of caution considering the possibility for flooding, wind damage and power outages. It is certainly our prayer that everyone is safe and there would be no or minimal damage in the wake of the storm, but we do not have the luxury of knowing this in advance, and feel that the only proper decision is to cancel the event.”
The event, which is centered around a memorial by the Eunice Pharr Duson statue, at Park Avenue and 2nd Street, has not been rescheduled.
