Truancy rates in state, parish are a problem
St. Landry Parish’s public school truancy rate in 2020-2021 was 49.19% — higher than the state’s 40.21% rate.
Truancy is defined as students who have five tardies or five unexcused absences in a semester.
In the 2020-2021 school year there were 6,559 truancy cases in the school district.
