SLEMCO’s annual meeting is Saturday

SLEMCO will hold its 80th Annual Membership Meeting at the Lafayette Cajundome on Saturday. Doors will open at 6 a.m.
SLEMCO members attending will be able to enter for three grand prize drawings, with the first grand prize winner choosing between $20,000 cash or a new car, truck, camper, bass boat or tractor. The second grand prize winner will go home with $7,500 cash, while the third grand prize winner will receive $2,500 cash.
An early bird prize drawing will be held at 8 a.m. The winner of this drawing will take home $5,000 cash. Thirteen other valuable prizes will be awarded as well, between 8 and 9:30 a.m.
Members will enjoy music from Roddie Romero and the Hub City Allstars and Sweet Cecilia. The music and dancing begin at 6:30 a.m.
Throughout the morning, United Blood Services will hold its annual community blood drive. Community Coffee will be providing fresh hot coffee and Advancial Federal Credit Union will be on hand as well.
SLEMCO’s business meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Company officials will give updates on major projects recently completed and those planned for the near future.
Once the business meeting is finished, 20 college scholarships worth $2,000 each will be awarded by random drawing. Over 800 students who will attend college this fall submitted applications to be entered into the drawing. Right after the scholarship winners are announced, the grand prize drawings will be held.
SLEMCO provides electric power to over 108,000 members in Acadia, Avoyelles, Cameron, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes.
