After 40 years as a rice consultant, B.D. Fontenot, of Mamou, knows his rice and sees changes in farming the grain that is a staple of south Louisiana agriculture.
Fontenot is recognized as an expert in his field. He was named Rice Consultant of the Year in 2021 after being selected from nominees out of six rice-producing states.
