Teen killed after report of prowling armed mob ed

After the report of an armed mob walking on Perrotti Street, 18-year-old Fredrick Stevens Jr. was found shot dead in the 200 block of Fusilier Street on Sunday evening.
Police Chief Kyle LeBouef stated police were notified at about 10 p.m. that about six individuals in hoodies, armed with firearms, were walking on Perrotti Street towards Fuselier Street.
“Prior to officers arrival, a second call came in stating that there was now an active shooting at that location. Upon arrival, police located one 18-year-old male victim in the 200 block of Fusilier Street that had been shot in the upper torso area,” LeBouef stated.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene as officers began to immediately render life saving measures to the victim, he stated.
All attempts were futile, and the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene by a Coroner’s Office representative.
“There are no reported witnesses or a motive to the shooting at this time. One weapon was recovered at the scene. This is an active investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Eunice Police or St Landry Crime Stoppers,” he stated.
Two other shooting occurred during the weekend.
On Saturday, at about 2:30 a.m. Eunice Police were dispatched to the 400 block of North Mallet Street, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers determined that the shooting had occurred on Clark Street.
It was determined that two vehicles were struck with bullets while parked unoccupied in the area. Several bullet casings were recovered at the scene. There were no injuries reported, and no known suspects or motive for the shooting.
On Sunday, at 4:40 p.m., Eunice police were dispatched to the 200 block of West Maple Avenue in reference to a shooting. Witnesses reported hearing about six shots fired. Another witness reported hearing about a dozen shots fired.
Officers located some shell casings on the 300 block of Ulysse Street. There were no reports of injuries or damage. Officers did recover video footage from a residence in the area, and are attempting to locate a person of interest.
