Two vehicle crash leaves one with severe injuries

A two vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Pine Point Rd. (La. Hwy. 1161) and Te Mamou Rd. has resulted in severe injuries for one individual involved in the incident.
Louisiana State Police, Troop I, investigated the crash that happened a little before 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018.
According to State Police, its “preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Nissan Altima driven by 55-year-old Michael Ardoin of Ville Platte, was traveling south on Tee Mamou Rd. approaching a stop sign at its intersection with LA 1161.”
State Police then explained that “A 2017 Chevrolet Traverse operated by 24-year-old Desiare Watz of Ville Platte, was traveling northbound (east) on LA 1161 approaching Tee Mamou Rd.”
In a statement from Troop I spokesperson, Brooks David, “For unknown reasons, the Altima disregarded the stop sign at the intersection and enter the path of the Traverse.”
According to the spokesperson, “The Traverse’s front bumper struck the front, right fender of the Altima in the northbound lane of LA 1161. “
The driver of the Altima was transported, via Air-Med, to Lafayette General Medical Center with “severe injuries.”
The driver of the Traverse, along with her two juvenile passengers and the juvenile passenger from the Altima were transported to Mercy Regional Hospital in Ville Platte with “minor and moderate injuries.”
At this time, state police say this crash remains under investigation.
