The Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Board of Regents and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) debuted a new website that will help soon-to-be educators choose the teacher preparation program that fits them best. Prospective educators can now visit LouisianaTeacherPrep.com to explore teacher preparation programs and pathways to become a teacher.

Survey finds challenges in providing education

School districts are making progress in providing continuous education to students, but a survey of the state’s 192 school systems finds significant challenges remaining, according to s Louisiana Department of Education news release on Monday.
The state’s school have been closed to slow the spread of COVID-19.

St. Landry Parish high school scores

St. Landry Parish high school scores released Tuesday.
In St. Landry Parish there were 980 high school students tested in English I with the following results in percentages: 2, advanced; 27, mastery; 30, basic; 25, approaching basic; and 15, unsatisfactory.
There were 790 students tested in English II with the following results in percentages: 7, advanced; 35 mastery; 27, basic; 19, approaching basic; and 12, unsatisfactory.
Algebra I, 850 students tested: 2, advanced; 28, mastery; 34, basic; 28, approaching basic; and 8, unsatisfactory.

St. Landry Parish schools among those selected for restructuring

The Louisiana Department of Education, in partnership with Johns Hopkins University, today announced the launch of the Louisiana High School Redesign Cohort, a network of 31 high schools across the state that will work together to rethink the core components of their high school design.

St. Landry Parish among 7 to get money for mentor training

St. Landry Parish is among seven parishes that will share in a $675,000 grant to develop a training model that affords aspiring educators who have already gone to college the opportunity to spend significant time in a classroom under the tutelage of an expert mentor prior to assuming full responsibility of a classroom.
