Covid-19 death toll at 51 in St. Landry Parish

The death toll from Covid-19 in St. Landry Parish stood at 51 in the noon Louisiana Department of Health report on the virus.
St. Landry Parish’s cases had reached 244 with 254 state tests and 3,280 commercial tests.
In the state, there have been culmulative 33,837 cases reported with 2,382 deaths. There were 1,091 people in hospitals and 132 of those were on ventilators. There were 66 probable deaths from the coronavirus.
The Department counts 11,114 tests at the state lab and 242,075 at commercial labs.
As of May 10, there were 22,608 people presumed recovered from Covid-19.
Area parish Covid-19 cases as of Friday were:
Evangeline, 74 cases and one death;
Acadia, 189 cases and 11 deaths;
Lafayette, 543 cases and 23 deaths;
St. Martin Parish, 278 cases and 22 deaths;
Pointe Coupee Parish, 155 cases and 18 deaths; and
Avoyelles Parish, 80 cases and nine deaths.
As of Monday, the Department reports state deaths included 56.07% blacks and 41.21% whites. Of the deaths, 45.2% occurred in females and 54.46% in males.
In St. Landry Parish, deaths included 10 blacks and 40 whites. Only parishes with 25 or more deaths are detailed as to race.
The Department’s cases by Census tract shows 13 cases of Clovid-19 in Eunice as of Monday.
