St. Landry Parish COVID-19 death toll rises to 18

The number of deaths and cases from COVID-19 in St. Landry Parish continued to rise with Friday’s update from the Louisiana Department of Health.
There were 18 deaths in St. Landry Parish as of noon Friday, up from 16 on Wednesday.
The number of positive cases on Friday were 119, up from 116 cases on Wednesday.
In the state as of Friday, there were 1,213 deaths and 23,118 confirmed COVID-19 cases. There were 1,868 patients in the hospital with the virus and 363 of those were on ventilators.
Confirmed cases of the virus are in all 64 parishes.
Also, as of Friday, there were:
Acadia Parish, six deaths, 110 cases;
Evangeline Parish, no deaths, 42 cases;
Lafayette Parish, 17 deaths, 396 cases;
St. Martin Parish, 10 deaths, 184 cases;
Pointe Coupee Parish, five deaths, 62 cases; and
Avoyelles Parish, three deaths, 68 cases.
