Virus death toll in parish rises to 52

The death toll from COVID-19 in St. Landry Parish rose to 52 with Wednesday’s report from the Louisiana Department of Health.
Of those 52 deaths, at least 34 occurred at the J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville. The nursing home accounted for 68 of the 237 cases to date in he parish.
Neighboring parishes and cases as of Wednesday are:
Evangeline,67 cases and one death;
Acadia, 262 cases and 12 deaths;
Lafayette, 607 cases and 23 deaths;
St. Martin, 275 cases and 22 deaths;
Pointe Coupee, 179 cases and 21 deaths; and
Avoyelles, 96 cases and nine deaths.
