Hudson Joins Hospice Volunteers. Theo Hudson of Eunice, back row, third from left, is among seven persons who recently completed a two-day training program to become a Hospice of Acadiana volunteer. Kyle Savant signs with McNeese. McNeese Scholarship. Kyle Savant, seated, has signed on to play football for McNeese State University. He signed the agreement Wednesday morning at Eunice High School. His mother and father, Robert and Martha Savant, were present for the signing ceremony. Eunice High Head Football Coach Paul Trosclair, right, was also present for the signing. Savant said that one of his thoughts as he prepares to pack up and move away to college is to possibly pursue a career as a coach. “It’s just a thought now,” he said. “We’re real proud of him,” said Coach Trosclair expressing his appreciation of Savant’s work.
Ready to go. Eunice Kiwanis Club members were fired up and ready to go turkey hunting after hearing a presentation at their club meeting by Paul Ferrell, right, senior regional director of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Visiting with Ferrell after the meeting are from left Chip Thibodeaux, John G. Fontenot, and Kiwanis president Dr. Robert Turk.
Senior Lady Day. Caroline Robinson, center, is a senior on the Lady Jay basketball squad. She was honored along with other seniors basketball players at a special ceremony following the basketball game which was held Tuesday evening against Kinder. With her are her parents Susan Robinson and Michael Robinson. The Mamou game Friday ended the season.
Senior honored. Stuart Bowie, senior basketball player, was one of three senior basketball players honored Tuesday evening during an intermission between the girls basketball game and the boys basketball games against Kinder. Pictured are his parents Denise and Dr. Charles Bowie. In front is Stuart’s younger sister Catherine.
Students of the Month. Students of the Month for the month of January were chosen at Glendale Elementary recently. These students had the privilege and fun of eating a special lunch with their principal Phyllis Ortego. Those honored, seated, from left, are Lainey Perrodin and Holly LeJeune. Highest Honors. These fourth graders at East Elementary were honored at the Academic Burners’ program for their great accomplishments, earning all A’s on their report cards from first grade to present. From left are Jared Prather, Lesli Guillory, Miss Donatto, principal, and James Malbrew.
Receiving her certificate. Rhiannon Bessmerty, a third grade student at East, received an honorary certificate for making all A’s on her report card for the firt three six weeks this school year. If she continues her great grades, she will be treated at the end of the year with a pizza party.
