Hospital statement
Acadian Medical Center in Eunice has announced its first case of COVID-19. The following is a statement from Kevin Frank, CEO of Acadian Medical.
“In alignment with the assurances we made to each of you, Acadian Medical Center has received the first positive result for a patient with COVID-19. Out of respect for our patient and in following HIPAA guidelines, we are limited in what we can share.
“In our obligation to our healthcare providers, patients, staff and our community, our infection preventionist first notified the Office of Public Health, then the provider who cared for the patient, at which point that provider notified the patient.
“We are currently notifying all caregivers and personnel who may have come in contact with this patient during their visit at Acadian Medical Center. While COVID-19 is new, our processes and procedures in place for infection prevention and preventing the spread of illness are not.
“We continue to follow the CDC’s guidelines for healthcare facilities, and our providers are working together with our local authorities to prepare and respond when called upon. The CDC guidelines and our efforts are in place to ensure public health and to ensure our hospital is a safe place for all to receive care.
“Acadian Medical Center is committed to providing high quality care to our patients. We will continue to follow guidance from the CDC and the Louisiana Office of Public Health. We recognize these guidelines are frequently changing, and we encourage you to stay informed by using the information provided by these entities at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus and www.http://ldh.la.gov/”, Frank said.
