3 ordinance amendments on city agenda

Three ordinance amendments are on the Eunice Board of Aldermen’s agenda for the meeting on Tuesday.
The ordinances concern trash fires and bicycle licensing and registration.
Public hearings are scheduled on the changes at 6;15 p.m. with the meeting to start at 6:30 p.m.
The trash ordinance regulates outdoor burning and bans burning trash, leaves, brush, grass, wood, tree limbs, rubbish, garbage debris, waste material or combustible material in the city. Fires such as those for cooking and patio fires are legal. Violations include a find up to $200 and up to 30 days in jail or both are set out for a first offense. Additional offenses have a $100 fine and an additional 15 days in jail.
The bicycle amendments include a fee of $5, which replaces a $3 fee and $1 a year renewal. Registration is to be done at the police department. Transients are not required to register bikes.
Seven properties face examination by the Board. They are 620 Bernice St., 230 S. Cane St. 231 S. Cane St., 571 Halsey St., 411 S. 10th St., 1211 Gregg St. and 320 Jelks St.

— Discussion about contracting out certain city services placed on the agenda by Alderwoman Germaine Simpson.
