Tri-Parish voter turnout ranged from a low of 9.5% in St. Landry Parish to a high of 15% in Evangeline Parish in early voting that ended Saturday.
Cheryl Milburn, St. Landry Parish registrar of voters, predicted 45% of the voters will turnout Saturday.
In Acadia Parish, 10.5 percent of the voters registered from this Saturday’s election voted early.
Topping the primary election ballot is a race for governor that pits incumbent John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, against two Republican challengers, U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham and Eddie Rispone.
There are numerous races down the ballot in St. Landry and Evangeline parishes that may drive turnout for the election. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
In St. Landry Parish, there are 59,182 voters registered for the election. Of those voters, 54% are registered Democrat, 23.2% Republican and 22.8% Other.
At the end of early voting, 5,608 voters had cast early ballots in St. Landry Parish. Of those votes, 639 were cast at the Eunice poll in the Eunice Municipal Complex.
In Evangeline Parish, there are 21,671 voters registered for Saturday’s election. Of those voters, 51.7% are Democrats, 27.1% are Republican and 21.2 are Other.
There were 3,264 early ballots cast in Evangeline Parish.
In Acadia Parish, there are 39,287 registered voters. Of those voters, 43.1% are Democrats, 32.3% are Republicans and 24.6% are Other.
There were 4,126 ballots cast in early voting in Acadia Parish.
