The annual March for Life was held in Eunice Friday at noon.
The walkers began at North 2nd Street near Picou’s Drug Store and concluded at the City Hall parking lot with a prayer led by the Rev. David Richard of North Eunice Baptist Church in Eunice.
Students from St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette attended the event. They walked in the procession holding their Pro Life signs as they said, “We are Cougars (the school’s mascot) for Life.” The students made a field trip by a school bus to Eunice to participate in the annual March for Life. One of their sponsors and teachers who made the trip, Kim Guillory Manuel, is originally from Eunice.
Friday marked the 48th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v Wade decision legalizing abortion in the U.S. throughout all nine months of pregnancy.
Since then, it is estimated that 56 million pregnancies have been aborted.
The 2021 March for Life theme is, “Together Strong: Life Unites.”
