Meeting dates for the Acadia Parish Police Jury will remain the same for the coming year, but the time has been pushed back half an hour.
A.J. “Jay” Credeur said the current 5:30 p.m. meeting time is hard for some working people to meet, “especially if you work in Lafayette.”
At his request, the meetings were moved back to 6 p.m.
Committees will continue to meet on the first Tuesday of each month. The full jury will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of each month.
Also, a number of re-appointments to various board were approved and some were delayed when the “new” police jury met recently for the first time.
Pat Daigle and Credeur asked that appointments in their respective districts be delayed until February so that they would have time to check with individuals involved.
Those re-appointments approved by the police jury included:
— Paul Miller and Walter Truax to Fire District No. 2;
— Kim Frey and Roger Pedigo to Fire District No. 4;
— Alton Thibodeaux for Fire District No. 9; and
— Darlene Guidry to the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission.
Re-appointments delayed at the request of Daigle were:
— Mark Link, Wendell Middlebrooks and Brent Reinhart to Fire District No. 1; and
— Leander Daigle Sr., Martin Guillory and Paul Guidry to Fire District No. 6.
Re-appointments delayed at the request of Credeur were:
— Steve Hooper and Shannon Richard to Fire District No. 7; and
— Ronald Carrier and David Sonnier to Fire District No. 10.
