Luna Reigh Joubert is the first baby of the new year born at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.
Luna was born at 10:51 p.m. Jan. 1 and weighed 7 pounds and 15.8 ounces, and measured 21 inches long.
Her parents, Randy Joubert and Thieshia Hampton, are from Eunice. Maternal grandparents are Randy and Leila Hampton of Eunice, and paternal grandparents are Randy and Mary Janice of Eunice. Her godfather is Divine Hampton of Eunice.
Luna is the couple’s first born. She was born six days earlier than her due date Jan. 6.
Thieshia’s OB/GYN, Dr. Kayla Fontenot, delivered Luna. Luna’s pediatrician is Dr. Justin Meche.
Thieshia said she was very surprised to deliver her baby on Jan. 1 as well as being named First Baby of Year at the Acdian Medical Center.
Thieshia is employed as a librarian at Eunice Junior High and Randy is employed as a construction worker in LaPlace.
The family was gifted with baskets of baby formula, blankets, diapers and many other baby products from Acadian Medical Center in honor of first New Year baby of the year born.
