Five properties in Eunice moved closer to a cleanup after Tuesday’s meeting of the Board of Aldermen and mayor.
Two properties were given 30 days to get cleaned up. Those properties are 210 E. Oak St. and 571 Halsey St.
Property at 580 Lewis Street is targeted for a Feb. 17 cleanup by members of the New Zion Baptist Church and Progressive Brothers, according to Jackie Vallare.
Aldermen also approved code enforcement office Bill Thompson’s requests for hearings in February on properties at 250 Julia St. and 403 S. 10th St.
Aldermen also approved rental and deposit fees increases for the Northwest and Southeast community centers.
The Northwest rental fee went up from $375 to $425. The Southeast was raised from $250 to $325. The deposit fees will be $200, up from $100.
Alderwoman Germaine Simpson, who introduced the increases, said the city often does not make enough from the rentals to cover costs.
