Sherri Zeringue McGovern took 41% of the vote Saturday, but will face Blair Brigg, who won 33% of the ballots cast with 90 of 92 precincts reporting.
Coming in third was Garett Duplechain, who won 26% of the vote.
With 90 of 92 precincts reporting, 24,783 votes had been cast.
McGovern is a certified public accountant and has headed the sales tax collector for the Sheriff’s Office.
Briggs is a businessman and served two terms as an alderman in Opelousas.
Duplechain is an attorney and an assistant district attorney with duties that include representing the St. Landry Parish Council. He is the son of assessor Rhyn Duplechain.
